Epico ROMs PRU
Intended purpose
medi Epico ROMs PRU is an elbow brace
for mobilisation
with adjustable
immobilisation
of the proximal
radioulnar articulation.
Indications
All indications that require early
functional mobilisation of the elbow
joint with limitation of the range of
motion and adjustable immobilisation
of the proximal radioulnar articulation,
such as:
• Surgical fixation of medial and/or
lateral collateral ligaments
• Surgically treated bicep or tricep tears
• Conservative therapy of dislocated
elbows
• Surgery on dislocated elbow fractures
• Medial or lateral collateral ligament
reconstructive surgery
• Treatment of radial head fracture
(nonsurgical, postoperative)
• Treatment following insertion of a
prothesis
• Distal humeral fractures (nonsurgical,
postoperative)
Contraindications
• Concomitant neurological damage, e.g.
ulnar nerve
• Compartment syndrome
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paresthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended users and patient target
groups
Healthcare professionals and patients,
including persons who play a supporting
role in care, are the intended users for
this device, provided that they have
received briefing on this from healthcare
professionals.
Patient target group: Healthcare
professionals should provide care to
adults and children, applying the
available information on the measure-
ments/sizes and required functions/
indications, in line with the information
provided by the manufacturer, and
acting under their own responsibility.
QuickLock mechanism
The QuickLock mechanism allows a
quick fixation or release of the range of
motion (ROM). In order to fixate the
joint, move the bar at the hinge to the
closed symbol (
). To release the
pre-set ROM, move the bar to the open
symbol (
) again.
Setting the level of flexion and
extension limitation
• The medi Epico ROMs proximal
radioulnar joint brace comes with a
pre-installed extension and flexion
angle of 0° extension and 90° flexion.
