PT control
wrap
Intended purpose
medi PT control is a brace with
adjustable hinges for correction and
control of patellar tracking.
Indications
All indications that require correction
and/or load relief and reinforcement of
correct patellar tracking within a
defined range of motion, such as:
• Patella luxation (conservative/
operative)
• Patellofemoral pain syndrom
• Lateral malalignement with knee
instability
• Retropatellar cartilage surgey
Contraindications
None known to date.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Setting the flexion / extension limits
Only to be carried out by an
orthopedic technician.
Extension limit wedge, EXT (limits
extension): 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Flexion limit wedge, FLEX (limits flexion):
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Can be immobilised at:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
For immobilising the orthosis first insert
the extension wedge and then the
corresponding flexion wedge.
The medial (inside) and the lateral
(outside) wedge settings must
always be the same.
1. Your knee brace is provided with
pre-installed 0° extension wedges.
2. In order to change the wedges, push
the joint cover from the back toward
the outside (see profile).
3. To change the wedges, remove the
tweezers from the joint cover and use
them to simply pull the wedges
toward the front (extension) or toward
the back (flexion) out of the joint. Each
wedge is labelled with „FLEX" or „EXT"
and with the respective degree
setting. Another distinguishing feature
is the different colour of the wedges.
Extension wedges are silver and
flexion wedges are black. Insert the
new wedge from the front (extension)
or from the back (flexion) into the joint
