Cleaning and disinfection

Clean and disinfect immediately after use.
Ideally, a mechanical procedure (instru-
ment dishwasher) should be used.
Prepare for the process of cleaning with
disinfection as described in Chapter
"Dismantling the nebuliser handset".
Recommended procedure: Thermal
disinfection
• Place the nebuliser handset compo-
nents in the instrument dishwasher.
• Select the 93 °C programme (treatment
time 10 minutes).
The effectiveness of this procedure has
been validated using a G7736 disinfector
made by Miele and using neodisher
(Chemische Fabrik Dr. Weigert, Ham-
burg) as a cleaning agent in conjunction
with deionised water as a neutraliser.
Recommended procedure: Manual
cleaning/disinfection
• Place the nebuliser handset compo-
nents in a 0.5% solution of

Bodedex forte for 5 minutes.
• Then place the components in a 4%
solution of Korsolex
solution for 15 minutes.
• Then thoroughly rinse the nebuliser
handset components under warm run-
ning water and leave them to dry com-
pletely on a clean, dry and absorbent
surface (for at least 4 hours):

Sterilisation

After cleaning/disinfection, pack the dis-
mantled nebuliser handset in sterilisation
packaging (disposable sterilisation pack-
aging, e.g. foil/paper sterilisation bags).
The sterilisation packaging must conform
to DIN EN 11607 and be suitable for
steam sterilisation. Then sterilise the
nebuliser handset using the following ster-
ilisation procedure:

Steam sterilisation
Validated in accordance with
DIN EN ISO 17665-1. Sterilisation tem-
perature: 121 °C (to be maintained for:
30 min.).
The resistance of the aerosol head has
been tested for 50 cycles in an autoclave.
Caution:
Using temperatures higher than 121 °C for
sterilisation will quickly damage the
aerosol head/nebuliser handset.

Storage

Keep the sterilised nebuliser handset in a
dry, dust-free place protected from con-
tamination.
