Maintenance
Your Excel 3-Motion rollator requires periodic maintenance. This is essential for ensuring a long lifespan and optimal
user comfort. A poorly maintained rollator is more likely to develop technical problems, perform less smoothly,
and may fall outside warranty coverage. Preventive maintenance is therefore crucial. We recommend having your
rollator inspected by a qualified Excel Mobility dealer at least once a year. This dealer will only use genuine Excel
replacement parts where necessary. With annual inspections, your rollator will provide years of reliable service.
You can also do a lot yourself to keep your rollator in optimal condition. Regularly checking the rollator and
performing minor maintenance when needed will extend its lifespan and enhance its usability. The following sections
describe these minor maintenance tasks in more detail.
7.1
The tyres
You should regularly check the tyres of your rollator for wear and tear. If the wear is advanced, the tyres must be
replaced.
7.1.1
PU tyres
Polyurethane (PU) tyres are puncture-proof. These tyres are recognisable by the absence of a valve. The advantage
of PU tyres is that they do not require inflation and cannot become punctured. However, PU tyres are subject to
wear. Check weekly to ensure the tread is still sufficient.
7.2
The brakes
Inspect the brakes for sharp edges. If sharp edges are present, the brakes must be replaced. Also, check that all
brake components are securely fastened, as these may loosen with frequent use. Ensure the brake mechanism
operates smoothly. If not, apply a few drops of WD40 oil or Teflon to the brake pivot points. Finally, check that the
brakes do not contact the tyres while the rollator is in motion.
7.3
The frame
The frame is the foundation of your rollator and must remain in good condition. Inspect the frame for the following:
•
Ensure the rollator folds and unfolds easily.
•
Verify the rollator moves in a straight line.
•
Check that the frame is not bent or damaged.
If any of the above issues arise, contact the dealer where you purchased the rollator. Only your dealer is authorised
to carry out repairs to the frame.
7.4
The rear wheels
You can also inspect the rear wheels yourself. Proper alignment of the rear wheels improves the rollator's stability
and reduces the effort required to move it. Check the rear wheels for the following:
•
Ensure the rear wheels do not rub against the frame.
•
Check for play in the rear wheels. This is often caused by a loose wheel housing.
If any of the above issues occur, contact the dealer where you purchased the rollator. Only your dealer is authorised
to carry out repairs to the rear wheels.
