15.1

Operation instructions

• Do not exert any undue stress to the machine during wheel turn to obtain accurate results.
• Do not operate the machine without hood.
• Never raise the hood before the wheel has stopped.
• Always keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all other body parts away from moving parts.
• To terminate a spin process, press key
• When applying the weights, positioning errors may occur. Especially in case of larger
unbalance, a deviation of a few degrees can cause a residual unbalance of 5-10 grams.
• With commercially available weights, which are available in increments of five grams, static
imbalances of up to 4 grams can persist because they fall below the measuring sensitivity of
the machine.
• The above mentioned causes may result in an unsatisfactory balancing result. If this is the
case, it is recommended to remove the applied weights from the rim and repeat the balancing
procedure.
• Always check that the weights (clip-on or stick-on weights) are properly applied to the rim. An
insufficiently secured weight can come loose when the wheel turns and as a result lead to
dangerous situations.

Self-calibration

NOTE:
a calibration is required in the following situations:
• when the machine is first put into operation at a fixed location
• after the machine is moved to a new location
• when the machine may provide incorrect results
• when main components have been changed
• it is recommended to perform calibration every 3 months, but especially in case of
considerable temperature changes during the seasons

Weight

To self-calibrate the machine, proceed as follows:
1. Mount a wheel with average diemnsions (z.B.: 6'' x 15'') to which the calibration weight can
cliped on (described in chapter "Mounting the wheel")
2. Switch the machine on
3. Input values a (rim distance), b (rim width) and d (rim diameter)
(described in detail in the following chapters)
