4. Special conditions for use (X conditions)
I) Measures external to the equipment must be taken so that the transient protective
device can be set to a value, which does not exceed 40 % of the rated voltage at the
equipment's power connections.
J) A heat reflux from the process which exceeds the permissible ambient temperature
of the transmitter, the digital display or the case is not allowed and must be prevented
with suitable insulation or a suitable neck length (see minimum neck length M
"Equipment category classification").
K) The transmitters and digital displays used must have their own EN/IEC approval. The
installation conditions, electrical connection values, temperature classes or maximum
surface temperatures for use in potentially explosive dust atmospheres and permissible
ambient temperatures can be seen from the relevant approvals and must be observed.
L) Grounded measuring points which are internally connected to each other must not be
subjected to the electrical high-voltage test. They must be marked with the "grounded"
symbol.
M) Using a thermowell/neck tube the instruments shall be constructed in a way that
allows an installation that results in a sufficiently tight joint (IP67) or a flameproof joint
(EN/IEC 60079-1) towards the less hazardous area.
N) For the models TR40/TC40 or TR50/TC50 without MI cable, the temperature range of
the cable insulation must be considered for operation.
O) Clean the instrument with a moist cloth. This applies in particular to thermometers with a
case made of plastic and cable probes with plastic-insulated connection lead, to ensure
that any risk of electrostatic discharge is avoided.
