Parking heater switches off during the
heating operation (fault shut-down)
Possible cause
Parking heater is overheated owing to lack of
coolant.
Corrective action
Top up coolant and evacuate air in accordance
with repair instructions. Remedy any possible leaks.
Blower is not working
Possible cause
Blower control system or blower faulty
Corrective action
Check connection points for blower control system
(see circuit diagram), or make a functional check of
blower.

13. Fault clearance

If the above corrective action does not lead to a
remedying of the fault, fault clearance should be
undertaken as described in the following.
The blade terminal fuse F64 described is located
in the glove box in fuse holder A46.
F 46 0024 R
Take 20 A blade terminal fuse F64 out of the blade
terminal fuse holder A46. After waiting for at least
10 seconds, put blade terminal fuse F64 in again.
F 39 64 244 R
After waiting for at least 10 seconds put parking
heater into operation with timer or Telestart hand
transmitter.
F 46 0025
After waiting for 3 -10 seconds, take 20 A blade
terminal fuse F64 out of the blade terminal fuse
holder A46.
F 39 64 246 R
After waiting for at least 30 seconds switch
off parking heater with timer or Telestart hand
transmitter.
F 46 0026 R
Insert 20 A blade terminal fuse F64 in blade
terminal fuse holder A46 again.

After waiting for at least 10 seconds put parking
heater into operation with timer or Telestart hand
transmitter.
14. Maintenance of the heater
The parking heater should be checked by a BMW
service centre at regular intervals or at the latest
at the beginning of the period when the parking
heater will normally be in use.
Note the operating instructions in the
instruction manual.
To avoid starting problems as a result of operating
the park heating, we recommend that the vehicle
is driven daily for 15-20 km so that the vehicle
battery gets sufficiently recharged.
