BASIC OPERATION
The MT-XR is for outdoor use. There are too many objects indoors and
many kinds of electrical equipment that will create interference signals.
Therefore, it is not practical to use the detector indoors.
Field detection is complicated, the composition of regional soil, the
component, size, shape, and the oxidation degree of underground
metals will all affect detection results. This chapter only covers the
general steps of field detection. You should operate the detector over
and over again, accumulate experience to achieve good results.
1. Turn detector on
Hold the detector, keep the search coil away from the ground. Press the
Power button, the detector will sound two moo tones, and all the LCD
patterns will be lit for a while. The detector will be restored to the
setting from its last use.
2. Set the operation mode
In general, the user might choose the ALL METAL mode. At this time,
the detector will respond to all kinds of metals.
3. Choose the sensitivity
The user always expects to set the sensitivity higher. However, in a
higher sensitivity range, the detector will be more sensitive to the
electromagnetic interference that comes from power lines or cables
around, and it will react abnormally to the mineralization of the soil or
the electrical conductivity of the soil. If you move the search coil in the
detection area, and the detector sends an unstable false signal, please
decrease the sensitivity. (Press SENS button, the sensitivity cursor will
flash, and the (-、+) button is used to adjust sensitivity.)
If you operate the detector with a partner at the same time, please pay
attention to keeping more than 10m (30ft.) away from each other, and
decrease the sensitivity appropriately.
