Design
Single-stage, horizontally mounted centrifugal pump in accordance with German
DIN 14 427, self-priming after first filling. The pump is equipped with a semi-open
impeller, maintenance-free, dry-running safe with mechanical seal; mounted on a
portable stainless steel tubular frame with handles including hand guards.
Pressure proof vaccum gauge acc. to DIN 16 063. Hand piston-pump for the first
filling is mounted on the pump.
Protective motor switch. Plug and light socket are explosion-proof II 2G Eex ed IIC
T6. Light socket 230 V explosion-proof, for connecting a hand lamp.

Motor
Three-phase motor is duty type S1 (continuous operation) acc. to DIN VDE 0530.
Explosion-proof motor II 2G, explosion group IIB, T3 is polarized to "rotary field
right hand" DIN VDE 0530.
The motor is protected by an explosion-proof motor-protection plug with thermal
and electromagnetic circuit breakers adjusted to the nominal current. The thermal
release characteristic corresponds with VDE 0165.
Application Area
The portable hazmat pump (GUP) is designed for mobile use at fire brigades and
other aid organizations for pumping of flammable liquids and wastewater.
They can also be used in the industrial sector, however, must not be in permanent
installation.
Before each start-up, the liquid level in the pump housing must be check and fill
up if necessary. Brief interruptions are permitted, if it is ensured that the liquid
level in the pump housing does not decrease by evaporation or emptying by
suction process. This can be ensured by a non-return or a shut-off valve (see
section safety instructions) These additional parts are not scope of serial delivery.
The required "direction of rotation test (see section startup) may only be carried
out outside the danger area before application. A brief dry run (<30 s) is permitted.
Permitted pumped media:
Liquids with solids <10 mm and viscosity <1.5 cm²/s consisting of wastewater with
solids <10 mm, flammable liquids of explosion group IIA or IIB, T-class T 3 to T 1,
acids or bases according to the material resistance. The GUP is designed to
comply with the requirements of Manufacturers' announced specification and can
thereby be operated on a high safety level. Devices in this category are intended
for use in areas in which it is to be expected that an explosive atmosphere occurs
consisting of gas, mist and vapors. The explosion protection measures ensure the
required level of security even in the event of frequent device malfunctions or
faults that can usually be expected. See further specifications in the following
section safety instruction.
