Setting the Coding Switches for
the Sound Effects Circuit
Caution: You must not confuse the
coding switches on the sound effects
circuit with the coding switches on
the digital decoder for setting the
locomotive's address! Incorrect
switch settings on the sound effects
circuit can cause damage to this
circuit.

The sound image set with the coding
switches has been tuned specifically
for the prototypical sounds of the
class 78. We therefore recommend
that you do not change these set-
tings. The table below gives informa-
tion about the function back of the
individual switches, should you deci-
de to make changes anyway.
We recommend that you select the
lowest maximum speed and the hig-
hest level of acceleration / braking
delay in order to create an impressive
sound image.

On: automatic shutoff of the sound effectrs circuit
after 45 seconds, as long as the locomotive is standing
upright and all of the functions are turned off (rest mode)
Off: automatic shutoff deactivated

On: sound effect of rack and pinion gates
Off: sound effect of slide valves

On: volume and acoustic pattern of the exhaust strokes
varies with the locomotive's operating status

On: 4 exhaust strokes per wheel revolution
(original operation)
Off: 2 exhaust strokes per wheel revolution (toy operation)
