6. Special considerations in Ex areas
6.1 Protection against hazards arising from electrostatic charge
Different versions of the device are partly composed of plastic parts than can accumulate a
charge. These include, in particular, housing coatings. The potential for electrostatic
charging gives rise to a risk of sparking and ignition. It is therefore essential that electro-
static charging be prevented.
Shielded cabling must be used throughout.
Avoid rubbing the plastic surfaces!
Do not clean the device while dry! Use a damp cloth, for example.
6.2 Overvoltage protection
If the pressure transmitter is employed as Category 1 G equipment, then a suitable over-
voltage protector must be connected upstream (see BetrSichV [German Ordinance on In-
dustrial Health and Safety] and EN60079-14).
