POWER Switch
This switch turns the power ON/OFF (STANDBY)
** The STANDBY indicator will illuminate when in standby mode.
* NOTE: Even when the POWER switch is at the STANDBY position,
"power still flows to part of the internal circuitry. When the unit is
not being used for a long period of time, the power plug should be
disconnected from the AC outlet.
2. PHONES (Headphones) Jack
Connect stereo headphones to this jack
When you want to listen to the sound through your headphones and
'not through the speakers, set all the SPEAKERS switches to the "OFF"
position
3. SPEAKERS Switches
Depress the switch SPEAKERS-A or SPEAKERS-B, corresponding to
the terminals to which the speaker system has been connected, to the
"ON" position, and sound will then be heard through those speakers.
4, Input Selector
TUNER Button: Press to listen to a radio broadcast.
"TUNER" appears
in the display. Tuning cannot be carried out unless this button is
pressed first
CD Button: Press to listen to a CD or CDV disc
"CD" appears in the
display
ONO Button: Press to listen to a record album
"PHONO* appears
in the display
TAPE-1: Press this button to play a tape in a tape deck-1 connected to
the TAPE-1 terminal, or to dub from TAPE-1 to TAPE-2
TAPE-2/MONITOR: Press this button to play a tape in a tape deck-2
connected to the TAPE-2 terminal, or to dub from TAPE-2 to
TAPE-1.
If you wish to listen to another program source, press this button
once more, and the "T-2" indicator will go out

By pressing the TAPE-2 button when recording using TAPE-2, the
recorded signal will be output from the PLAY terminal of the tape
deck, enabling you to monitor it.
VCR/VDP: Press to listen to the audio from a VCR or videodisc player
(VDP)
5. MEMO Button
When presetting a station, press the MEMO button first, then press
the PRESET STATION button, and press the ENTER button
6. CHARACTER Button
This button is used with the station call memory function, which lets
you assign a name to each preset station, using up to 4 alphanumeric
or symbol characters and display it
To assign a character or symbol, first receive a preset station, then
press the CHARACTER button, and finally input each character by
repeating the cycle of TUNING button — ENTER button

7. CLEAR Button
To clear the character display of a preset station which has been input
with the station call memory function, press the CHARACTER button,
then the CLEAR button.
8. AUTO/MANU
Button
This button switches the tuning mode between AUTO and MANUAL
during FM/AM reception. The *AUTO" indicator turns on or off each
time the button is pressed
When the "AUTO" indicator is on: AUTO tuning is set. When a
TUNING button is pressed, the unit automatically tunes in the next
station
When the "AUTO" indicator is off: MANUAL tuning is set. Pressing
a TUNING button once changes the reception frequency by one
step, and holding a TUNING button pressed changes the reception
frequency continuously.

In MANUAL tuning mode, FM MUTING function is turned off, and
the reception becomes monaural.
9. FM/AM Button
Each time this button is pressed while receiving radio broadcasts, the
tuner switches between FM and AM.
If pressed while another program source is playing, playback switches
to the tuner.

Buttons
Press these buttons to tune in the desired station.

12. VARIABLE LOUDNESS Control
When listening at low volume, human ears become less sensitive to
both high and low frequencies To adjust the balance of the different
frequency ranges for a more suitable balance to your ears, turn the
LEVEL control to enhance the low and high frequencies When this
function is not used, turn the control fully counterclockwise for a flat
response.
13. P. SCAN (Preset Scan) Button
Press to activate preset scan tuning, where each preset station is
received tor 5 seconds in sequence
To stop scanning, press the
ENTER button
