- Before driving the vehicle always check that the crossbar carrier
is mounted correctly and the cargo is properly secured and faste-
ned.
- The cargo must be evenly distributed and the center of gravity
must be as low as possible.
- When transporting large objects (e.g. roof boxes, bicycles etc.)
the roof is exposed to even greater loads due to a large increase
in air resistance therefore adjust your speed based on the given
conditions.
- When transporting cargo always follow the safety regulations of
the respective country.
- Repairs to the cross rails and the replacement of parts should
always be made by a professional. We recommend using original
spare parts which you can obtain from your salesman.
- For transport safety, a reduction of air resistance, noise and
fuel consumption WE DO NOT RECOMMEND fitting the carrier
when not in use.

Caution. After assembling the cross rails (or additional
extension parts) on the roof the overall height of your
vehicle will change. Therefore pay particular attention
when driving into garages, tunnels, or underpasses
etc.
Never take the vehicle to a car wash with the bars still
fitted, with or without accessories.
When transporting items secured to the bars, do not
forget to take into account the additional height due
to the load you are carrying on the roof. Be particularly
aware when driving into garages with low head room
and underground parking facilities, and when passing
through underpasses, etc.
Maintenance instructions
Clean the cross rails regularly using water and detergent or a
non-greasy cleaner. Do not clean with acetone or other solvents.
Remove dirt and salt particularly in winter.
We recommend applying silicone oil to the lock cylinder, feed and
fastening mechanisms at least 1x year.
Always before the winter season (once a year) we recommend, as
the prevention from freezing the crossbar carrier bottom end onto
the longitudinal roof carriers, to treat contact surfaces of rubber
seating blocks with agent WaxPolish, order number HAO 096 007,
from the ŠKODA genuine aceesories assortment (Fig. 12).
Should the key be lost or the lock damaged contact a
ŠKODA AUTO contractual partner.
