pilots must be aware of the higher speed, greater agility and fast reaction of the wing after a
deformation or when flying in abnormal situations.
SuSi2 must be piloted actively to avoid collapses and to control the wing in the event of a
deformation.
Mini-wings in general are more resistant to collapse than standard sized paragliders. Collapses
recover very fast. The greatest danger in an abnormal situation is that the untrained or
inexperienced pilot reacts too slowly or overreacts and stalls the glider unintentionally.
The brake travel is shorter compared to a standard paraglider. Nevertheless, the stall-point is
noticeable and the brake pressure increases continuously to reduce the tendency to stall the
wing unintentionally.
SuSi2 is highly agile and reaction to brake input is more considerably dynamic than with a
standard paraglider. Piloting with 'normal' brake input for a standard sized wing will lead to
dynamic wing-overs on the SuSi2. Pilots must take care to accustom themselves with these
increased dynamics.
Launching:
In general, launching is very easy. Despite the small surface the 'lifting off' characteristics are
very good and easy to achieve. The glider rises up very fast in all conditions, including tail wind.
Once the glider is over head release the brakes a little and make some strong accelerating
steps, it is not necessary to run fast into the wing. When powered up like this, pull the brakes
slighty and lift-off.
Landing:
The high trim-speeds are no problem at all for landing. The glider can be slowed down by
pulling a little brake and will still maintain enough energy for the flare. If you miss the point of
flare, the glider generally maintains enough power to make a second flare.
The biggest size (20) does not need to be flared excessively. The smaller sizes should be flared
for a perfect landing. Be aware that on the smallest size (14) the brake travel is short and a fast,
full pull on the brakes makes the glider stall quite suddenly.
