minimum equipment in the following sizes:
1 – saw body
2 – foam rubber base
3 – workbench
4 – flat gasket
5 – washers
6 – nuts
7 – lock nuts
8 – nuts
Number necessary:
4 nuts 6 mm x length
4 flat gaskets (7 mm)
4 washers (7 mm)
8 nuts (6 mm)
Place the machine in the desired position and mark the
places where holes are necessary to fasten the machine to
the base. Then drill the holes with an 8 mm bit, and fit the
screws in place
• Equally, a noise reducing foam rubber mat is not sup-
plied together with the saw but we strongly recommend
the use of such an item in order to minimise vibration
and noise. The ideal size is 550 x 210 mm.
Warning: This machine must be earthed.
If the machine is not correctly earthed it can cause an
electric shock. See that the electric socket is earthed.
Should there be any doubts, consult a specialist.
Warning: Avoid contact with the plug pins when plugging
in and unplugging the machine. Contact can cause a seri-
ous electric shock.
WARNING! Never place hands near the cutting area.
Proper positioning of your body and hands when operating
the scroll saw will make cutting easier and safer.
Keep children away. Keep all visitors at a safe distance
from the scroll saw. Make sure bystanders are clear of the
saw and workpiece.
Do not force the saw. It will do the job better and safer at
its designed rate.
Use of an extension lead
The use of an extension lead can cause a loss of perform-
ance. In order to keep this to a minimum and to avoid over-
heating and burnout of the motor, please seek the advice
of an electrical specialist to determine the minimum size
of the cable.
The extension lead must have, on one end, an earthed plug
which fits in the socket. On the other end the cable must
be attached to the plug of the machine. If the electrical
cable is damaged please consult your customer service re-
pair unit.
Positioning the stage plate (fig. 6)
• Loosen the table locking grip and adjust the table until
it is roughly perpendicular to the saw blade.
• Use a small protractor to place the table at 90° to the
saw blade
• Once the exact position is achieved, tighten the table
locking grip.
• Release the screw that holds the dial (1) and adjust this
to 0°. Tighten the screw.

Operating the machine
Please read and understand the following points about the
scroll saw before starting up the machine.
Flexible dust bellows (fig. 7)
The flexible dust tube (1) should be positioned such that
it points to the saw blade and the materials, so as to blow
sawdust away from the cutting line.
Switch for variable speed (fig. 8)
The saw is equipped with a knob (1) to adjust for continu-
ously variable speeds. The speed of the hub of the saw
blade can be changed simply by turning this knob. To in-
crease the speed, turn in a clockwise direction. Turn in an
anticlockwise direction when a slower speed is desired.
Storage of the blade and Allen key (fig. 9)
• The storage space for the saw blades (1) is to be found
on the left side, behind the body of the machine. Allen
keys can also be stored there.
• The storage space for the tshaped wrench (2) is on the
right side, behind the body of the machine.
Basic aspects of operation
The scroll saw makes possible cylindrical and curved, as
well as straight and diagonal cuts. Before beginning work
with the machine the following important points should be
made clear:
• The wood to be cut must be fed by hand into the saw
blade.
• Sawing comes about only when the saw blade is moving
downward.
• Feed the wood slowly against the saw blade, since the
teeth of the blade are small and only cut when moving
downward.
• Every person who works with the saw requires training.
During the training period it often occurs that the saw
blades tear when the machine is being operated with a
person who has not had much experience with it.
• The saw works best with sheets of wood less than 2.5
cm. thick.
• If you wish to cut sheets of wood thicker than 2.5 cm.
then the wood must be fed particularly slowly through
the saw blade and you must avoid abrupt curves, other-
wise the saw blade will tear.
• Over time the teeth of the saw blade become blunt; saw
blades must be replaced. The saw blades are adequate
for ½ to 2 hours of continuous running, depending on
the type of wood used.
• In order to achieve a precise cut, see that the saw blade
always follows the grain of the wood.
• For cutting metal and plastics, special saw blades must
be used and the speed must be reduced. Use bees' wax
as a lubricant for the saw blade when cutting metal.
Cuts within the sheet of wood (fig. 11)
• Drill a 5 mm hole in the material.
• Release the quick release clamp (1) and remove the
blade (2), see the section on changing the blades.
• Place the material on the table with the hole (4) over the
access hole in the work table (3).
• Assemble the blade (2) through the hole in the material
and push the quick release lever (1) forward.
• Carry out steps 3 to 7 in the section "basic operation of
the scroll saw".
• When the cut is complete, turn off the machine, remove
the blade from the blade holder and take the material off
