Allow the adhesive to set hard, then locate the horn slot in the rudder and remove the
covering film over it using a sharp balsa knife.
Glue the rudder horn in the slot.
Slip the rudder pushrod through the outer sleeve, as described for the elevators, and
connect the clevis to the horn.
The elevator and rudder servos can now be installed in the servo plate using the
retaining screws supplied in the accessory packs.
At the servo end the linkages are completed using swivel pushrod connectors, as
shown in the photo; you will need to open up the appropriate hole in the servo output
arms to 2 mm Ø beforehand. Fit the swivel connectors in the holes, and tighten the
retaining nuts just to the point where the connectors swivel smoothly, but without
noticeable slop.
The retaining nuts must be secured with a drop of thread-lock fluid to prevent them
working loose. Take care not to allow the fluid to run into the pivot area; the
connectors must be free to rotate.
Connect the radio control system and switch it on briefly to centre the servos; check
that the transmitter trims are also at centre.
Fit the output arms on the servo output shafts, slipping the pushrods through the
cross-hole in the swivel pushrod connectors at the same time. With the servo and
control surface at neutral, tighten the grubscrews in the pushrod connectors and the
DUO pushrod connector to clamp the pushrods.
Please note that a drop of thread-lock fluid must be applied to each grubscrew, to
prevent the screws working loose; this also applies to the screws in the DUO pushrod
connector. Cut off excess pushrod length using a pair of side-cutters.
The receiver can be secured in the space forward of the servos using a standard
cable tie or a Velcro cable tie.
The wings
Installing the servos in the wing panels
Glue the hinges in the slots in the ailerons, as already described.
Allow the glue to set hard, then glue the projecting hinges in the slots in the wing
panels.
Extend the aileron servo leads using the extension leads stated in the foreword.
Make sure the connectors cannot work loose; a heat-shrink sleeve, adhesive tape or
a drop of cyano can be used for this.
Fix the servos to the hardwood mounts on the servo well covers using the retaining
screws supplied with them.
