The cowl can now be fitted to the fuselage: position it in such a way that the motor
shaft is central in the front opening. There should also be about 1.5 mm clearance
between the cowl and the spinner backplate.
The painted finish of the cowl should line up with the film covering on the fuselage, as
should the trim stripes.
Fit the spinner backplate and the propeller on the motor shaft, and retain them with
the washer and hexagon nut. Attach the spinner cap to the baseplate using the
retaining screws supplied in the set. Note that you may need to adjust the notches in
the spinner cap to prevent it fouling the propeller.
The undercarriage
Drill holes in the wheel spats at a point about 8 mm from the bottom edge of the
moulding, centred in the wheel opening.
Attach the wheel spats and the wheels to the undercarriage units using the M3
screws and nuts supplied, as shown in the next series of photographs.
When gluing the wooden collars in place, take care not to glue the wheels to the
axles.
Ensure that the spats are at right-angles to the wheel lugs when attaching the wheel
spats to the undercarriage units.
The next step is to screw the two undercarriage units to the fuselage; the battery
compartment cover must first be removed as shown.
Each undercarriage unit is attached to the fuselage using one M3 machine screw and
one pan-head self-tapping screw.
Both wheels should have about 3° toe-in when installed.
Secure the M3 screws with UHU schraubensicher (thread-lock fluid), and the self-
tapping screws with a little UHU wood glue.
Fin and tailplane
Use your fingertips to locate the tailplane slots in the tail end of the fuselage, and
remove the film over them using the tip of a hot soldering iron or a sharp balsa knife.
Slide the tailplane into the slots and set it exactly central: it must project by the same
amount on both sides, and should also be at right-angles to the fuselage centreline
when viewed from above. Mark a line on the top and bottom of the tailplane by
running a felt-tip pen along the edge of the fuselage on both sides.
