4.1.4.2.2 Method D
If lung demand valve and air-supply system are already connected to the
facepiece, proceed as follows:
1. Inhale and hold your breath - there should be no audible leak.
2. Recommence breathing - exhaled air should easily flow out of the
exhalation valve.
3. Close the air-supply system, and breathe normally to empty the system.
When the pressure gauge indicates zero (system empty), inhale and hold
your breath for approximately 8 seconds. The facepiece should hold on to
the face indicating a positive seal.
4. Open the air-supply system again.

During use
WARNING
Risk of poisoning
Make sure that the facepiece is airtight before reporting for duty, otherwise there
is danger of serious injury or death due to exposure to smoke, chemicals, or
other harmful substances, including but not limited to poisoning.
When the facepiece is used with a canister,
● the ambient air must contain at least 19.5 % of oxygen; observe country-
specific regulations.
● never enter unventilated tanks, pits, canals, etc.
● the type of pollutants must be known. Choose corresponding canister.
4.2.1
Low temperatures
Use facepieces with a PCaf visor or use "klar-pilot" anti-fog agent to prevent
fogging of the visor.

4.2.2
High temperatures/Thermal cycling
WARNING
Leave the danger zone immediately, if there are any signs of damage, e.g.,
bubbles in the visor.
The coating may dissolve in some places in visors marked with PCas and PCaf.
The facepiece is fully serviceable until the end of the operation. Replace visor
after use.
4.2.3
Chemicals
Some substances may be absorbed by the material of the facepiece body or
may possibly diffuse into it. Further information can be obtained from Dräger.

After use
WARNING
Do not doff the facepiece unless you are decontaminated and in a safe
environment.
1. RA: Remove the canister from the facepiece.
P: Press the button and simultaneously pull the lung demand valve out of
the connector.
CAUTION
When doffing the facepiece, do not pull the facepiece at the connection
