1. Introduction

1.1 Description of the function

Apart from the mechanical water treatment (filter/
pool hydraulics), it is vital to control hygiene parame-
ters such as pH value and disinfectant levels. The
classical method of manual measurement and correc-
tion is time-consuming and awkward. For the dosing
unit to perform its task, there are some basic condi-
tions which have to be met. They are described in
these instructions. You can use the control unit only
for private swimming pools with a maximum water
volume of 100 m³

1.2 pH-value and chlorine

The pH value is a key indicator of whether the water
is acid, neutral or basic. A value of 7.2 has been
found to be optimal for people and for the technolo-
gy. Moreover, the disinfectants have their maximum
effect at 7.2.
Disinfection with chlorine is especially effective.
However, you should not exceed water temperatures
of 30º Centigrade, as construction components of the
swimming pool may be damaged. Optimal pool hy-
draulics are just as important. This is because no dis-
infectants can enter areas where the water cannot be
circulated. Algae growth mainly starts in the corners
and on the bottom of the pool. Hence depending on
the amount of growth, walls and bottom have to be
cleaned mechanically occasionally. Dirt is collected
inside the pre-filters (skimmer/filter pump) too, and
must be removed regularly.
For the dosing unit to work optimally, the filter unit
must be switched on at least 10 hours per day and
backwash must be done at regular intervals (1xper
week). Fresh water input (automatic or manual) oc-
curs only outside the running times of the filter, so
the untreated water cannot influence the measure-
ments taken by the dosing technology.
Warning:
1. If you mix inorganic chlorine preparations,
there is s danger of explosion!
2. Do not mix the contents of the chemical
carboy's because if you do,
highly-poisonous chlorine gas will be formed.
3. The safety warnings on the chemical tanks
must always be followed!
4. When changing dosing from organic to inor-
ganic chlorine products, there is a a danger that
organic chlorine products led to cyanuric acid
building up in the pool. After switching over to
inorganic chlorine products, the new active chlo-
rine can become ineffective because it is initially
in contact with the cyanuric acid.

1.3 Installation

The dosing unit must be installed in a dry room with
good ventilation. To avoid damage if the system
breaks down, there must be a drain of sufficient size.
The control unit is fixed to the wall with the fixing
screws included in the scope of delivery.
Please ensure that the suction pipe of the dosing
pump is as short as possible. Hence the safety can are
placed directly under the device. The suction lances
must be screwed in the chemical tanks and connected
to the control unit using the plug. The injection
valves for pH and disinfection are installed as shown
on the installation diagram. The test water pipe is to
be connected to the flow cell as shown in the installa-
tion diagram.
The mains cable and the temperature sensor
have already been connected inside the control
unit. The maximum permissible voltage is 230V.
The mains socket must be sited as close as pos-
sible to the device and interlocked with the filter
pump, that is, the electric mains socket is al-
lowed to be live only when the filter pump is run-
ning. Please observe the official standards for
wiring regulations as well as local standards. En-
sure that the mains cable and peripheral are not
live during installation or maintenance work.
The unit is supplied complete with an inline flow
switch. If the flow of sample water to the flow
cell is stopped, the controller becomes inactive;
(no flow alarm is displayed)
