The measured and guaranteed sound power lev‐
els were determined in accordance with the UK
regulation Noise Emission in the Environment by
Equipment for Use Outdoors Regulations 2001,

26 Safety Information for
Lawn Scarifiers
26.1

Introduction

This chapter describes the general safety
instructions preformulated on the basis of the
standard EN 50636-2-92, Annex BB, for electri‐
cally operated lawn scarifiers.
WARNING
■ Read all the safety instructions, instructions,
illustrations and technical data provided with
the lawn scarifier.Failure to comply with the
following instructions may cause electrical
shock, fire and/or serious injury.Keep all safety
instructions and instructions for the future.
26.2 Training
a) Read the instructions carefully, ensure that
you are familiar with the controls and the cor‐
rect use of the machine.
b) Never allow people who are not familiar with
these instructions or children to use the
machine.Local regulations may impose age
restrictions for users.
c) Note that the user is responsible for acci‐
dents or hazards involving third parties or
their property.
26.3 Preparation
a) Always wear hearing protection and safety
glasses when operating the machine.
b) Always wear sturdy shoes and long trousers
when operating the machine.Never operate
the machine barefoot or in lightweight san‐
dals.Avoid wearing loose clothing, clothing
with hanging cords or ties.
c) Carefully inspect the area on which the
machine is to be used and remove any
objects that could be taken in and thrown up
by the machine.
d) Use the machine only in the recommended
position and only on a firm, level surface.
e) Do not operate the machine on paved or
gravelled surfaces where ejected material
can cause injuries.
