Phonitor Matrix
The Phonitor Matrix enables speaker-like listening on headphones by blending the left
and right signals, respectively time-delayed (interaural time difference) and attenuated
(interaural level difference) to the opposite side.
The opening angle (angle – interaural time difference) is fixed at 30°.
CROSSFEED
The
control adjusts the interaural level difference. If the control is set to "0",
the Phonitor Matrix is deactivated.
The Phonitor Matrix parameter "Center" is fixed at a -1 dB attenuation.
Talkback
Talkback
By pressing the
button, the signal of the talkback microphone is mixed to the
headphone output 2 (Artist) and the output CUE OUT. At the same time, the input source
signal for headphone output 2 (Artist) and the output CUE OUT is attenuated by 3 dB.
LEVEL
The talkback
determines the volume of the talkback microphone signal.
Alternatively, the talkback function can be switched with a footswitch (jack connector on
the rear panel of the MTC Mk2).
8
Cue Mix – the artist's mix
CUE MIX
When
is activated, the artist only hears the signal of the
CUE OUT
the headphone output 2 as well as on the
vated, he also hears the talkback microphone signal). This way, the artist can be fed with
his individual monitor mix.
The Phonitor Matrix as well as the monitoring modes are deactivated when when
is activated for headphone output 2 as well as on the CUE OUT.
Monitoring modes
LR SWAP
With the channel swap function
L and R of the input sources are swapped.
Ø
The phase inversion
inverts the phase of the input sources by 180°.
MONO
The
control can be used to check the mix for mono compatibility.
Tip: M/S – Mid or Side?
MONO
By using the
it is possible to only monitor the M or S signal. When "Mono mode" and phase inversion is
active, only the S signal is played back.
If the phase inversion is switched off, the mono signal corresponding to the M signal is
played back. Separate monitoring of the M and S signals has become a standard for many
mixing and mastering engineers.
DIP switches
With the DIP switches on the bottom of the device you can
adjust the following settings:
DIP-Switch 1: ON
= Attenuates the input signals for the artist and
cue mix by an additional 10 dB when the talkback function is activated.
DIP-Switch 2: ON
= All inputs are attenuated by 6 dB
DIP-Switch 3: ON
= All inputs are attenuated by 10 dB
DIP-Switch 2 + 3 ON
= All inputs are attenuated by 13 dB
DIP-Switch 4: ON
= No function
