3.4 Hazards and Safety Measures

The hazardous parts in use on the machine are outlined in the following table, together with the
safety measures to take.

Electrocution Make sure the power source supplies the same voltage as listed on the
rating plate of the machine.
Periodically check the conditions of the cords and replace them if
necessary. Protect the cords and power panels from moisture.
Unplug the machine before performing any maintenance. Authorize expert
personnel only to work on electrical parts. Avoid leaving connection cords
exposed, in particular in passage areas; they can cause tripping or get
damaged.
Do not place fingers near power sockets. When inserting the plug, always
keep your fingers on the insulating body of the socket, not touching metal
parts. Do not touch electrical components with wet hands. Do not tamper
with equipment, sockets or plugs, or force insertion of the plug if finding it
hard to get it in the socket.
Do not use plugs, sockets or damaged or worn cords; in particular, do not
use insulating tape for joints, but only replace the cords.
Use the machine in a ventilated premises far from flammable materials.
Keep out of reach of children.

Safety Measures
Switch off the machine and wait 2 hours before
changing or touching the platens.
Caution: despite insulation on the heating
elements, the heat is transmitted to the upper
platen cover; avoid direct contact during use.
Wear heat-resistant gloves.
Do not apply heat transfer materials to
flammable materials or fabrics that have been
in contact with solvents, flammable liquids or
combustible liquids or gas.
Do not leave flammable or combustible
materials near the machine.
Keep your free hand away from the platen
during closure to prevent possible crushing.
Do not allow more than one person to work on
the machine.
