Installation

The connection of the PS6000 devices should be made using tubes for
mechanical decoupling.
The following recommendation is given with respect to the tube type:
 EPDM tubes
 Attachment using clamps
The following recommendations for installation must be observed:
 Seals have to be free from chloride, graphite and soot.
 To avoid cavitation damage in the pump (but also in the heat sink), a minimum
pressure of approx. 30 kPa must be observed on the suction side of the pump
and a geodetic altitude of the reservoir opposite the suction side of the pump
of >3 m (refer to Fig. 1).
 In order to prevent clogging and corrosion, it is recommended to provide a
backwash filter additionally in the cooling circuit (deposited material can be
flushed out during operation).
 It is important to have strainers, at least one pressure measuring point and an
inspection glass for maintenance.
 With respect to the coolant connection, care must be taken that no coolant
agent gets into the Weld Timer and Welding Transformer. It is recommended to
empty the coolant tubes prior to connection and plug the heat sink when
removing the coolant tubes.

Cooling circuit project planning

The required amount of coolant per unit of time must be set in accordance with
the specifications in the Technical data of the timer and transformers, refer to
Table 1: Required and supplementary documents Rexroth PSI6xxx Weld Timer
with Medium-Frequency Inverter instructions and PSG xxxx MF welding
transformers Instructions.

Potential equalization

In the cooling system, all components (PSGxxxx welding transformer, PS6000 or
PRC7000 weld timer, heat exchanger, pipe system, pump, pressure
compensation container, etc.) must be equipped with a potential equalization.
The potential equalization has to be designed with a copper bar or copper strand
with corresponding conductor cross-sections to inhibit the electrochemical
processes.
If the system is composed of several switch cabinets, they have to be screwed to
each other with good conductivity (e.g. screw cabinet struts to each directly with
conductivity).
This avoids potential differences and thus the risk of electrochemical corrosion. In
each cabinet, including in the cooling system, a PE bar has to be installed and
connected to each other.
