Information / General advice

The present assembly and operating instructions are an important part of delivery addressed to
specialists installing, operating, or servicing the motor drive. The document provides information
on the product and its safe use.
The instructions must be read carefully by every person handling the spindle drive, e.g., for
• installation and electrical connection
• operation, troubleshooting, handling
• maintenance, cleaning, service, inspection, repair, and disposal.
It is essential that the information given in this manual, especially the chapters concerned with
safety, should be observed.
After completion of installation, the manual must be handed over to the operating company/user
who should read it carefully before operating the opening system the first time and keep it for
later service and maintenance.

Technical description, product features

• Linear spindle drive designed for natural smoke and heat extraction and natural ventilation
in buildings.
• Suitable for mounting on bottom or top hung windows, side hung windows, horizontal and
vertical pivot windows, light domes, flaps, louvre windows and other closures by means of
mounting brackets.
• Aluminium drive case, galvanised E6/EV1 (natural colour), or painted in RAL colours.
• Thrust tube and eye of stainless steel.
• Operation with safety extra-low voltage (SELV) 24 V DC.
• With end cushioning and - depending on the drive variant - limit stop switch
• Maintenance-free electromotor
• Silicon connection cable, type FRNC-SIHSI-FE90, length approx. 2.5 m
• VdS 2580 tested.

Intended Use

The spindle drive ELTRAL S is intended for the automatic opening and closing of horizontally,
vertically, or obliquely installed windows, skylights, or light domes. It is suitable for use
• in dry rooms only
• in industrial and public buildings
• in private residences.
Misuse
The window drive is not designed or intended to be used as lifting, transport or
traction element for other than window opening purposes, or for similar unintended
purposes.
In order to comply with the "Directive BGR 232 for power-operated windows, doors and shut-
ters", automatic door and window drives must be inspected for reliable functioning by a trained
expert before initial commissioning. The functional inspection must be repeated at yearly
intervals.
Issued by the German employer's liability insurance association, the directive BGR 232 supple-
ments articles §§ 9, 10, and 11 of the "Regulation on Workplaces" and articles §§ 28 and 29 of
the accident prevention regulation "General Regulation" (VBG 1).
