General installation instructions:

 The ELTRAL S 230 E electric drive is designed exclusively for opening
and closing top hung windows, Tilt-Only windows, side hung windows,
vertical-pivot windows and horizontal-pivot windows in conjunction with
opening stays.
 The electric drive can only be used for operation in dry rooms.
 Installation drawings that explain how the hardware and electric drive is
installed are available for the hardware used by Gretsch-Unitas.
Please refer to these drawings when installing our electric drives.
 Use of the electric drive for other purposes must be approved by
Gretsch-Unitas GmbH Baubeschläge. Make sure that the hinges and
hardware used permit the opening travel of the electric drive as
otherwise they could be damaged by pull or push forces.
 The feed line must be protected by a fuse with a max.
amperage of 6.3 A.
Technical specialist personnel:
 The installation and electrical connection must be performed by
specialist personnel. Owing to their technical qualifications, these
persons have specialised knowledge in the areas of window drives,
technical standards and accident prevention regulations.

Prerequisites for installation:

 The output of the electric drive must be sufficient to open and close
the window. The limit values specified in the technical data for the
product must not be exceeded.
 The existing electrical systems must comply with the applicable
standards.
 The information regarding the permissible sash weight and sash size
for the hardware being used must be observed.
Installation:
The electric drive is delivered in the retracted condition.
1. Pull the side cover up and off. Only unscrew the countersunk head
screw in the cover on the connection side far enough to allow the
cover to be pulled up and off (see sketch).
The test run can be carried out using portable test set 230 V, 24 V
no. K-17736 or test cable no. 6-26338.
2. Fasten electric drive as specified in the required installation drawing.
3. When connecting the power line, observe the wiring diagram overleaf.
Insert the connector into the electric drive and lay the cable round the
cord grip.
4. If the feed line is face-fixed, the side cover must be cut out.
5. Attach the side cover; screw the countersunk screw into the cover.
Limiting the travel:
 Connect ELTRAL S 230 E to testing
cable, portable test set or mains switch.
 Close the window completely until the
electric drive switches off automatically
via the load cut-off. The power supply to
the electric drive must not be interrupted.
 Hold the button on the electric drive
down for approx. 3 s until the LED next
to the push-button flashes.
 While the LED is flashing, put the mains
switch to the OFF position.
Wait until the LED is no longer flashing.
 Open the window to the required opening width.
The LED flashes while you are doing this.
Put mains switch to the OFF position. Wait until the LED is no longer flashing.
 The adjustment is complete.
The LED subsequently lights when the window is opening or closing.
Removing the limitation:
 Connect ELTRAL S 230 E to testing cable, portable test set or mains switch.
 Close the window completely until the electric drive switches off
automatically via the load cut-off.
 Hold the push-button at the electric drive down for approx. 10 s until
the LED next to the push-button lights up continuously.
 While the LED is lit, put the mains switch to the OFF position.
Wait until the LED goes out.
 The limitation has been removed.
The electric drive now only switches off once the max. travel has been
reached, or if the integrated load cut-off is triggered.
The LED subsequently no longer lights up when the window is opening
or closing.
Safety:
 Use scaffolding if the electric drives have to be installed at a height of
more than 2.5 m.
 Risk of injury or danger to life due to current.
The electric drive must be isolated from the power supply before
carrying out any connection work.
An all-pole main switch with a contact gap of at least 3 mm must
always be installed before the feed line to the electric drive.
 There is a danger of crushing and shearing when installing the
window at a height below 2.5 m
Never put your hands, other parts of your body or objects
between the window sash and frame when the electric drive is in
operation.
The danger zone must be fully visible from the place of operation.
National directives, e.g. guideline for power-operated windows, doors
and gates (ZH 1/494), must be observed.

Maintenance:

 Check the electrical system, the electric drive and hardware once a
year to make sure they are working properly and are undamaged.
 Apply grease to the hardware at the designated points using acid-free
grease.
 Do not try to repair a defective electric drive by yourself.
Do not open the housing or remove parts.
In case of signs of damage to the appliance contact the manufacturer.
Load cut-off:
The electric drive switches off automatically if the load is greater than
LED
1200 N.
Increase travel to 70 mm:
The travel is limited at the factory to 50 mm.
When used with the VENTUS F 300 fanlight opener, the travel can be
Push-button
increased to 70 mm by removing the lift stop on the underside of the
electric drive.
