Charging and discharging cycles of NiMH/NiCd batteries 'NiMH CYCLE' and 'NiCd
CYCLE'
To test batteries, form new batteries or refresh older batteries, you can automatically perform
up to 5 charging/discharging cycles in automatic succession. The two possible combinations
are 'Charge/Discharge' ('CHG>DCHG') and 'Discharge/Charge' ('DCHG>CHG'). This mode
uses the charging/discharging current that you configured in the charging ('CHARGE') and
discharging ('DISCHARGE') programmes. The cycle count determines how often the set
sequence of charge/discharge or discharge/charge operations is performed.
Select the desired battery programme for the battery type
(NiMH/NiCd) – 'NiMH CYCLE' or 'NiCd CYCLE'.
You can set the sequence (Charge>Discharge or

Programme memory, saving battery data 'BATT MEMORY'
The charger has a data memory. The charger has 10 memories in which you can save battery
data/settings. These can be retrieved again later if necessary, so that the settings do not have
to be implemented again every time.
Select the memory setting. To do this, press the STATUS
+ buttons (4) and (21) and STATUS - buttons (5) and (18)
in the main menu to select the 'BATT MEMORY' function.
The memory number flashes on the display.

The following provides details of the setting parameters and functions:
Different setting functions are available according to the set battery type (LiPo, Li-
ion, LiFe, NiMH, NiCd, Pb). For example, the setting function for the charging end
voltage per cell is only available for lithium batteries.
Select the battery type first, and then the other data, to ensure that the charger
displays the correct setting functions..
You must stop the charging programme to be able to modify settings. You cannot
change the charging current setting during the charging process.
Battery type
Select the battery type (LiPo, Li-ion, LiFe, NiMH, NiCd or Pb).
As stated above, the battery type must be selected first to ensure that the charger
displays the correct setting functions.
Battery voltage
This setting allows you to set the battery voltage for the selected battery type.
It is not possible to set just any voltage; the increment size depends on the rated
voltage of an individual cell of the respective battery type. For example, if the rated voltage of
a cell in a LiPo battery is 3.7 V, the voltage can only be adjusted in increments of 3.7 V (3.7 V,
7.4 V, 11.1 V etc.).
Charging current
Here, set the desired charging current. This must be selected according to the battery used.
A charging current of 0.1 - 10.0 A can be set.
The actual charging current available during the charging process depends on the
battery type and the number of cells. The maximum charging power available per
channel is 100 W.
Discharging current
Here, set the desired discharging current. This must be selected according to the battery used.
A discharging current current of 0.1 - 5.0 A can be set.
The actual discharging current flowing during the discharging process depends on
the battery type and the number of cells. The maximum discharging power per output is 10 W.
Discharging voltage per cell
Here, you can set the voltage per cell at which the discharging process is ended (typically 3 V).
Warning!
Never set the voltage too low. In the case of lithium batteries, this can lead to deep
discharge and permanent damage to the battery. Follow the battery manufacturer's
instructions.
Charging end voltage per cell (TVC)
Here, you can set the voltage per cell at which the charging process for lithium batteries is
ended.
Warning!
Never set the voltage too high. In the case of lithium batteries, the battery may catch
fire or explode. Follow the battery manufacturer's instructions.
