Product Description

The PE5 pressure sensor is used as a switch in signaling, control, and regulation
circuits. It monitors the relative pressure present and converts it, depending on the
PE5 version and the set switching points or functions, into a digital switch signal or
analog current or voltage signal (for versions, see Tab. 2; for switching
characteristics, see Fig. 8, 9 and 10; for menu navigation, see Fig. 11).

Assembly
CAUTION
Danger of injury from uncontrolled operation
If the system is under electrical voltage and/or pressure during
assembly of the PE5, this may lead to uncontrolled responses
and, as a result, injuries to personnel or damage to the system.
Always make sure the relevant system component is not under pressure or
voltage before connecting pneumatics or electric for the PE5.
Connecting the compressed air
CAUTION
Damage to device
Use of an incorrect connection nipple or noncompliance with
limit values can cause damage to the device.
Comply with the limits for pressure and temperature (see "Technical data").
Do not use connection nipples with conical threading! Only use connection
nipples with axial sealing on the outer flange with a maximum screw-in depth
of 9 mm (see Fig. 5).
1.
Construct the counter piece for the push-in fitting (see Fig. 3) or double nipple
using a suitable thread (see Fig. 6).
2.
Close the unused compressed air connection with the blanking screw mounted
on the rear.
CAUTION
Danger of injury due to loosened, unsuitable pressure tubing
Unsuitable pressure tubing on the PE5 may loosen under
pressure, cause injuries, and damage the PE5.
Only use the pressure tubing stipulated by Rexroth.
3.
To connect the push-in fitting (Fig. 3):
Slide the pressure hose (Ø 4 mm, 5/32'') into the push-in fitting on the PE5
(Fig. 4).
- or -
To connect the double nipple (Fig. 7):
a)
On the side with the O-ring (see Fig. 7) screw the double nipple on the PE5
pressure sensor (8-1 or 8-2, see Fig. 1): tightening torque MA = 2 Nm
b)
Using a wrench (WS 17), screw the PE5 pressure sensor with the attached
double nipple into the provided mounting thread until the seal is completely
screwed in. A double nipple with a PTFE ring may be turned a maximum of
3/4 of a rotation back or forth for adjustment.
Note: Double nipples with G1/4 or G1/8 threads have a PTFE sealing ring (see
Fig. 6). Seal double nipples with NPT thread with liquid sealant or PTFE band, if
necessary, and align where necessary.
Connecting the PE5 electrically
Use Rexroth connecting cables to connect the PE5 pressure sensor (max.
length 30 m).
Observe the pin assignment (Fig. 5, Tab. 2).
Use shielded cables if the PE5 is exposed to strong electromagnetic fields.
Tighten the M12x1 plug of the connecting cable.
Assembling the PE5 on the hat rail or bracket (Fig. 3)
1.
Fasten the hat rail (DIN EN 60 715; 35 mm x 15 mm/7.5 mm) or bracket in a
suitable manner.
2.
Insert the PE5 in the hat rail/bracket at the lower mounting clip and tip it
towards the top until it catches (see Fig. 3).
Assembling the PE5 in a control panel (Fig. 2)
• Front frame assembly is suitable for a sheet metal thickness of 1.5 to 3 mm.
• Mounting hole dimensions: l = 59.2 mm and b = 49.5 mm
(tolerance l/b: 0 to +0.5 mm).
• See the front frame assembly instructions for installation information
(R412013558).

Overview of Functions and Settings
(See Fig. 11)
Display mode (Fig. 11, 1)
Connect the PE5 to a suitable voltage source. The device will go into display
mode and show the current pressure, as well as the set pressure unit, in the
bottom section.
Repeatedly pressing the button
and resetting points, as well as the "Extended functions" (EF) menu, where you can
set further parameters.
Selecting the menu to set the switching and resetting
points (Fig. 11, 2)
The PE5 is in display mode:
1.
Press
or
repeatedly until the desired switching point (SP1, SP2) or
resetting point (rP1, rP2) is shown in the display.
2.
Press
to make this setting.
Note that the switching and resetting points SPx, rPx are indicated as FHx or FLx in
the window mode (see Fig. 9, settings in "Extended functions").
