8. Installing the software

1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM of your computer.
2. Select the folder "PC version" or "MAC version" according to your operation system.
3. Run the executable file (.exe file) or the Apple disk image (.dmg) and follow the on-screen instructions to install the Virtual DJ limited edition.
4. When the installation is finished, unplug the USB plug and then reconnect it.

The mixer can be operated without the Virtual DJ software, but some of the functions cannot be used.

9. Operation

• When setting the device up or installing it on a desk ensure there is sufficient ventilation.
• Do not place the device on soft surfaces, such as a carpet or a bed etc.
• Moreover, the air circulation must not be obstructed by such objects as magazines, tablecloths or the like. This stops
the heat dissipation of the product and can lead to overheating (fire hazard).
• Do not drill any holes in the mixing desk case. The device may otherwise be damaged and this could impair its safety.
• When setting up the device, it is important to pay attention to a secure position and a firm surface.
• If the mixing desk falls it could injure people.
• During set up or installation of the device, make sure the connecting cables are neither jammed nor damaged by
sharp edges.
• Only place cables in a way so that nobody could fall over them or get caught by them. Risk of injury.
• When selecting a location, make sure it is not exposed to direct, intensive sunlight, vibrations, dust, heat, cold or
humidity.
• No devices with strong electric or magnetic fields such as transformers, motors, cordless phones, radio devices etc.
must be in the direct proximity of the mixing desk, since they may interfere with the mixing desk.
• Do not operate the device until you have familiarised yourself with the functions and this operating manual. Check
again that all connections are correct. You should not listen to music at an excessive volume over a longer period of
time. This applies especially when listening to music with headphones. Excessive volume can cause hearing loss.
Switching the mixer on and off
Not observing the following sequence when switching the mixer on and off could damage the loudspeakers or the amplifier.
Switching on:
1. Check again that all connections are correct.
2. Make sure that all channel faders (26), master volume knob (16) and booth volume adjustment knob (41) are set to the minimum volume
(slide channel fader right to the bottom / turn the knobs to the left stop position).
3. First switch on the playback devices that are connected to the mixer.
4. Turn on the DJ controller by switching the power switch (53) to either "USB" or "ADAPTOR". The POWER LED (24) will light up.
5. Switch on the connected amplifier. The mixer is now ready to use.

Switching off:

1. To switch off the mixer, first turn the volume on the amplifier back to the minimum setting.
2. Switch off the amplifier.
3. Then switch off the mixer using the power switch (53) and then switch off the playback devices (turntable, CD player etc.).
4. If you do not require the mixer for a longer period, remove the plug-in power unit from the socket.
