Important Information
QuadroCopter „450" ARF QC09
Item no. 23 98 80
Dear Customer,
in the scope of further development of the operating software (firmware) of the QuadroCopter,
there are some changes to the operating instructions as compared to the scope of delivery.
From firmware version V7.xx onwards, the control behaviour of the electronics and therefore
also the flight behaviour of the QuadroCopters has been much improved. Control movements
are implemented even more accurately and the position is kept more precisely.
The firmware of the QuadroCopter is continually developed further and tested in
practice for this. Such updates are then stored in the download area of the item at
www.conrad.com.
Please observe the following changes as compared to firmware V7.xx:
Chapter 10. c): „Adjustment of the Neutral Position"
Reconciliation of the neutral position is saved permanently in the QuadroCopter as of firmware
V7.xx. Thus, this reconciliation no longer needs to be performed for every restart.
Chapter 10. c): „Adjustment of the Neutral Position"
Chapter 15: „The First Flight"
As of firmware version V7.xx, improved sensor reconciliation is installed when connecting the
operating voltage and when calibrating the zero position.
After connecting the flight battery, the QuadroCopter must be placed perfectly stable and
horizontal.
If no constant sensor values can be determined within 20 seconds, a stable and drift-
free flight cannot be warranted.
If initialisation takes more than 20 seconds, disconnect the flight battery.
Connect the flight battery to your QuadroCopter again after a waiting time of about
10 seconds. The QuadroCopter must be placed on a horizontal underground during
initialisation; do not move it!
Chapter 9. b): „Recognising the Transmitter Channels (General)"
Chapter 9. h): „Setting the Flight Mode"
The DIP switches 1, 2 and 5 have had new functions assigned. The following switch
assignments are possible:
• DIP-switch 1 in position „off" activates the beginner mode
DIP-switch 1 in position „on" activates the sports mode
• DIP-switch 2 in position „off" activates the standard mode
DIP-switch 2 in position „on" activates the user mode
• DIP switch 3: Bootloader mode (no change)
• DIP switch 4: RC configuration mode (no change)
• DIP-switch 5 in position „off" activates the flight mode „+" („Plus"-configuration = the
QuadroCopter flies with one landing leg ahead)
DIP-switch 5 in position „off" activates the flight mode „X" („X-configuration" = the Quadro-
Copter flies with two landing legs ahead)
• DIP switch 6: No function
Note on the DIP switch 1:
The beginner mode is designed for hover flights, camera flights and slow round flights in its
settings.
For fast, recurrent flight manoeuvres (e.g. fast and sustained flying in circles), the electronics
of the QuadroCopter may use different basic values to control the QuadroCopter due to the
sensor values measured. The temporarily leads, e.g. to rearing up after an extended curve
flight that can only be compensated for by larger control deflections. For this reason, we
recommend sports mode for highly dynamic flights.
Note on the DIP switch 2:
Depending on switch position of the DIP switch 1 (selected flight mode „beginner" or „sport",
you can fly the QuadroCopter in the firmware standard settings (factory settings of the
parameters: DIP-switch 2 set to „off") or in user mode with your own adjusted parameters (DIP-
switch 2 set to „on").
Changes to the parameters in user mode can be performed with the optionally available
configuration kit (not included, available as an accessory).
Note on the DIP switch 5:
With DIP-switch 5 in position „off", the QuadroCopter is flying in the „+" (Plus) configuration.
This means that the boom (the landing leg) with the right direction indicator is at the „front".
This configuration is the factory setting; also see operating instructions, chapter 14, subchapters
d) to g).
Version 12/12
If the DIP switch 5 is set to „on", the „X"-configuration is set. This means that the QuadroCopter
is flying with two landing legs ahead. It is important that the direction indicator installed at the
boom in the factory still points to the „front in flight direction" when teaching in the remote
control. „Front" is now between the front, left landing leg with direction indicator and the landing
leg to the right of it. For better recognition of the flight position, we recommend installing a
second direction indicator (can be ordered as a spare part).
Chapter 9. g): „Reach in Switch for „Agility Mode"
All information from the present operating instructions on the „Agility-Mode" remains valid.
The only difference is that the „Agility-Mode" can only be activated in „Sports Mode" from
Firmware V7.xx.
Agility mode activation is marked acoustically by a double signal sound, and deactivation by
a single signal sound.
Chapter 11: „Safety Devices"
Chapter 12: „LED Displays"
The undervoltage recognition is displayed in two steps as of Firmware V7.xx.
Step 1 is displayed by slow flashing of the red LED (see note in the operating instructions on
flight control) when a defined voltage value is undercut. Flight operation should be ceased as
soon as possible.
Step 2 shows by quick flashing of the red LED that battery failure is imminent. Flight operation
must be ceased immediately to prevent damage of the battery (deep discharge) and crashing
of the QuadroCopter.
Please observe!
