This function prevents an accidental operation of the appliance. Confirmation
is given when the digit displays

The timer is a countdown that can be set to run for from 1 to 99 minutes.
At the end of the set time a buzzer will sound, which can be silenced by
pressing any of the buttons.
The cooking areas operate independently while the timer is working.

With the hob on, make sure that none of the cooking areas are active.
