Warnings
Observe the following Warnings to avoid injury to the patient
and clinician:
• Support the M2501A Sensor and Airway Adapter to prevent
stress on the Endotracheal Tube.
• Do not apply excessive tension to any cable. Do not position
cables or tubing in any manner that may cause entanglement
or strangulation.
• Explosion Hazard: Do not use the M2501A sensor in the
presence of flammable anesthetics.
• Electrical Shock Hazard: Always turn off and remove power
before cleaning the M2501A Sensor.
• Failure of Operation: If the M2501A Sensor fails to respond
as described, discontinue use until the situation has been
corrected. Refer servicing only to qualified service personnel.
• Do not use the M2501A Sensor if it shows visible damage,
has exposed electrical contacts, or has become wet from spills
or condensation
• Inspect each Airway Adapter prior to use to assure that its
color coding matches the patient application (refer to
Compatible Accessories).
• Do not clean, disinfect, sterilize, or reuse Airway Adapters
designed for single-patient-use. To do so may compromise
M2501A Sensor functionality and system performance, and
cause a potential hazard. Performance for single-patient-use
items are not guaranteed if reused.
• Avoid infection by using only sealed single-patient-use Airway
Adapters, or disinfected and sterilized reusable Airway
Adapters.
• Replace any Airway Adapter in which you observe excessive
moisture or secretions.
• Observe the CO
waveform. If you see changes or abnormal
2
appearance such as an elevated baseline, check your patient
and then the ventilatory circuit. Waveforms can be affected
by changes in patient condition, a faulty Sensor, or faulty
Airway Adapter. See Troubleshooting Tips on the following
page for more information.
