Reusable Airway Adapters
Cleaning and Disinfection Procedure
Perform the following procedure to clean and disinfect the
reusable M2513A and M2516A Airway Adapters.
Step M2513A, M2516A Cleaning and Disinfection

Wash the Airway Adapter with a mild soap solution,
being sure to completely clean the inside and outside
surfaces.

Rinse the Airway Adapter in clean water, then soak it
in one of the approved disinfectants described earlier
in this section.

Rinse the Airway Adapter in sterile water, then allow it
to dry completely.
NOTE: After cleaning and disinfection, the reusable Airway
Adapters can be sterilized using approved sterilization methods
described in the following section.
Sterilization
Perform the following procedure to sterilize the reusable
M2513A and M2516A Airway Adapters.
Step M2513A, M2516A Sterilization

Clean and disinfect the Airway Adapter.

After disinfecting, immerse and soak the Airway
Adapter in one of the following sterilants
®
Cidex or equivalent Gluteraldehyde 2.4% solution:
Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

PeraSafe® or equivalent peracetic acid 0.26%
solution: Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Allow appropriate aeration time before reuse.
a. Alternatively, you may autoclave the M2513A at 121°C
(250°F) for 20 minutes, rather than soaking it in sterilant.
Never autoclave the M2516A.
b. PeraSafe should not be used in the U.S.
