8.4. initiation
Please pay attention to the correct supply voltage (9V DC). The device is supplied by a
wall power supply. The inner pole is "+", the outer pole and the case is connected to
ground. The supplying voltage must meet the specification of Safety Extra Low Voltage
(SELV) or Protective Extra Low Voltage (PELV).
8.5. service
To prevent from damage it is recommended to adjust the potentiometer to the full
counter clockwise position before switching on the amplifier.
By overdriving the modulation voltage (>5V) can occur a higher voltage than 150V to
the piezo (up to 165V). A longer exposure time should be avoided to protect the
ceramics and increase the MTBF.
8.5.1. operating mode switch
With this switch can be selected the operating modes "MODULATION" and
"GENERATOR".
Operation mode "GENERATOR":
This mode allows a simple functional check of the system. The internal generator
supplies a triangle voltage with full amplitude (0...150V on the piezo). With the
potentiometer the frequency of this voltage can be varied from 2...35Hz.
Operating mode "MODULATION":
In this operating mode there are two options for control:
1. Manually control of the output voltage by potentiometer (OFFSET). Be sure that no
modulation wire is connected to the modulation input.
2. Control by modulation input (MOD IN). A low impedance signal source (<=50ohms)
overwrites the potentiometer value. The modulation voltage can be in the range
from 0V to +5V.
8.5.2. potentiometer
Depending on selected operation mode, the internal generator frequency or the output
voltage can be adjusted.
