5. HOW TO PREPARE
THE PERFECT ESPRESSO
• Always use cold water and keep the
deposit clean.
• Before making your espresso, always wait
until the "OK" pilot light comes off, as this
indicates that the water in the boiler has
reached the ideal temperature.
• Before making your coffee, heat the cup,
filter-holder and filter.
• You can do this under the hot water tap, or
in the following way:
• Turn the machine on using the on/off
switch (O).
• Insert the 1 or 2 cup filter (J) in the
filter-holder (G) and slot into the
machine. Wait until the "OK" pilot light
switches off, turn the selector to
and let the hot water heat the
accessories.
• Turn the selector back to "STOP" and
remove and drain the filter-holder,
filter and cups.
We recommend that you carry out this
operation (letting the water run through an
empty filter) even when you wish to make
coffee after having used the steam option.
An empty cycle brings the machine up to
a temperature that is ideal for making the
perfect cup of coffee.
In order to obtain the best results from your
coffeemaker, use a high quality, dark-roasted,
well ground coffee. You should use finely
ground coffee in this machine.
Instructions
• Turn the machine on using the on/off
switch and wait until the "OK" pilot light
goes out.
• A few drops of water may come out of the
boiler. This is completely normal and does
not indicate that the machine is faulty.
• Fit the 1 or 2 cup filter into the filter-holder.
• Place 1 or 2 measures of ground coffee
into the filter, spread evenly and press
down gently with the measurer to flatten
(fig. 6). Remove excess grains of coffee
from the rim of the filter.

• Slot the filter-holder into the machine as
indicated above.
• Place the pre-heated cup/s on the drip tray
underneath the filter-holder outlets and
when the "OK" pilot light switches off, turn
the selector to the position.
When the cup/s have been filled to the
required level, turn the selector to the
"STOP" position. (fig. 7).
• To remove the filter-holder, wait a few
moments then turn the handle from right to
left.
Do not leave used coffee in the filter-
holder, always remove after use.
• Hold the filter in place with the handle
lever, turn the filter-holder upside-down
and knock it a few times to remove used
coffee (fig.8 ).
• If you do not plan to use the machine for
an extended period, switch it off, unplug it
and empty the water deposit and drip tray
(K).
The next time you switch the machine on,
carry out a pre-wash as indicated above.
6. HOW TO PREPARE A CAPPUCCINO
• Use a metal recipient, preferably high and
narrow. Fill it with milk to no more than 1/3
of its capacity in order to avoid spillage.
• Turn on the coffeemaker using the on/off
switch.
• After a few minutes, the "OK" pilot light will
switch off, indicating that the water in the
deposit has reached optimum
temperature.
• CAUTION: At this stage, it is possible that
some water will escape from the boiler.
This is completely normal. Nevertheless,
take care not to burn yourself.
• Turn the selector to the (steam) position
and place the nozzle in the milk. Lower the
recipient until the nozzle is almost level
with the surface of the milk and raise it for
a few seconds every now and again
during the steaming process. The nozzle
should never touch the bottom of the
recipient and should remain submerged in
the milk the entire time.
