4.
Plug the connecting devices (pic. 25) between pump
and hose properly until they engage safely and can
not be disengaged by pulling.
5.
Position the cutting head (pic. 1) to the cable in an
angle of 90° (pic. 32, 33, 34). The cutting head must
be positioned in a way that the cable is situated in the
open cutting head respectively between the blades
(pic. 1.1).
Attention
One core cables should be consolidated and cut
as a three core cable up to 60kV maximum.
Attention
Do not disconnect the cutting heads before the
blades are completely retracted.
Attention
Do not operated the unit during rain.
Attention
The user shoud not start the cutting cycle bo-
fore making sure that no persons are in the ha-
zousdous area.
6.
Now the cutting cycle can be started by actuating the
trigger (pic. 2.16 & 3.16). The cutting cycle is termi-
nated when the max. operating pressure is reached.
The pressure pick up can be monitored with the pres-
sure gauge over the entire cutting cycle.
Attention
The cutting cycle must be fully completed that
means until a possible 2- to 3-pole short circuit
occurs.
By actuating the release button (<=/

the blades (pic. 1.1) will be returned into the starting
position. Alternatively the blades can be returned into
the starting position by actuating the trigger again uti-
lizing the autoretraction function of the tool. The cable
is completely cut now.
8.
The operator of the safety cutting unit has to make
sure e.g. by asking the net provider, whether the right
cable was cut. This is of special importance with de-
leted nets.
Attention
Do not approach the cutting head before the net
control offi ce, respectively net provider, gives
the OK.
In case of cutting into a live cable with this safety cutting
unit the cut can be continued and completed with this unit.
In most cases the unit stays functioning.
Attention
In this case the operator must always contact
the net provider.
After cutting a live cable the unit must be checked in re-
spect of possible damages. If the blades (pic. 1.1) are
damaged they can be exchanged by the operator.
9.
Remove the cutting head (pic. 1) from the cutting
location by using the appropriate carrying points (Cy-
linder body, handles)

(pic. 28 - 31).
4.2 Explanation of the application range
Do not cut reinforced cables/conductors with steel fortifi -
cation (e.g. pit cables, self supporting overhead cables,
sea cables, etc.).
The safety cutting unit can be operated within the tempe-
=>
pic. 2.16) once
rature range of -20°C to +40°C inside and outside.
4.3 Remarks in respect of alternative me-
If the cable or insulated line can clearly be traced back
from the switch-off point to the cutting point, e.g. through
cable maps, markings, cable tracing equipment and other
means, it is not mandatory to check the line at the working
site if the voltage-free status has been positively determi-
ned at the switch off point.
The voltage free state at the working site must be deter-
mined with all poles. Suitable devices for determining a
voltage-free state are voltage testers.
In case it is not possible to clearly identify the voltage-free
cable or insulated line the voltage-free status must be de-
termined with the help of this safety cutting unit.
4.4 Service and Maintenance instructions
The safety cutting unit must be cleaned and dried after
each use according to EN 50110 part 1 and a dry state
must be provided before storage. Also the battery cart-
ridge and the charging unit have to be protected against
humidity and dust.
After each use the unit must be checked for obvious
faults. Special attention should be drawn to the insulating
hose (pic. 1.4). The quick coupling (pic. 2.10 & 3.10) on
the insulating hose must also be examined for damages.
Within the scope of the inspection the blades (pic. 1.1)
must be checked in respect of inadmissible changes.
refully. The insulated hose (pic. 1.4) must be treated
with special care. It must be cleaned with a dry clean
cloth and the coupling (pic. 2.10 & 3.10) must be che-
cked in respect of possible damages. Afterwards the
unit must be stored away in the appropriate carrying
case.
Attention
Do not open the cutting head unless the blades
returned into their starting position. Otherwise
the cutting blades can be damaged.
Attention
Please check whether the cutting head is secu-
rely locked before starting the cutting cycle.
Attention
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts.
Attention
Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
Attention
Use safety gear and always wear eye protection.
Attention
Do not operate the unit during rain.
