Operating the appliance

Before using the appliance and accessories for the
first time, clean thoroughly; see Cleaning and ser
vicing the appliance".
Preparation
S Place the base unit on a smooth, clean surface.
S Pull the cord out of the cord store.
Models with automatic cord winder:
S Pull out the cord in one stroke to the desired
length (max. 1 metre/3.2 ft) and release slowly; the
cord is locked.
S Reducing the working length of the cord:
Pull gently on the cord and allow it to wind up to
the desired length. Then pull gently on the cord
again and release slowly; the cord is locked.
Warning!
Do not twist the cord or push it in by hand as it then
cannot wind up fully. If the cord jams, pull out the
cord all the way and then allow it to wind up.
S Insert the mains plug.
Bowl with accessories / tools

Risk of injury from the rotating tools!
While the appliance is operating, keep fingers clear
of the mixing bowl (even when the appliance has
been switched off, the drive continues rotating
briefly).
Change tools only when the appliance is at
a standstill.
Before using the bowl, always attach the blender
drive cover (2) and never the blender jug.
S Attach bowl (5) and rotate as far as possible in
a clockwise direction.
S Insert tool (7) as described in the appropriate sec
tion. For tool selection see Recipes and Tips"
booklet.
S Add ingredients as described in the appropriate
section. For ingredients and amounts see
Recipes and Tips" booklet.
S Attach lid (6a) (arrow on the lid on arrow on the
bowl) and rotate in a clockwise direction. Lid lug
must be located fully in the slot in the base unit.
S Select the desired setting with the rotary switch
(see Recipes and Tips" booklet).
S Before removing the lid to add more ingredients,
set rotary switch to 0/off.
When using the bowl, the appliance can only be
switched on when the lid (6a) has been screwed
on tight and the blender drive cover (2) attached.
Multi function blade (7a)
for cutting, mincing, mixing.

Risk of injury from sharp blades!
Grip the multi function blade by the plastic handle
only (top end).
S Take the multi function blade out of the blade
guard (10).
S Insert the multi function blade.
S Add ingredients.
S Attach the lid (6a) and pusher (6b) and rotate as
far as possible in a clockwise direction.
S Select the desired setting with the rotary switch (1)
(see Recipes and Tips" booklet).
S To add more ingredients, set the rotary switch to
0/off.
S Remove the pusher and add ingredients through
the feed tube (6c).
Note: The longer the processing time the smaller the
ingredients are cut/minced.
Kneading hook (7b)
for kneading stiff dough and for mixing ingredients
which are not to be cut (e.g. raisins, chocolate
chips).
S Insert kneading hook.
S Add ingredients.
S Attach lid (6a) and pusher (6b) and rotate as far as
possible in a clockwise direction.
S Select the desired setting with the rotary switch (1)
(see Recipes and Tips" booklet).
S To add more ingredients, select the desired set
ting with the rotary switch.
S Remove the pusher and add ingredients through
the feed tube (6c).
Beater (7c)
for cream, beaten egg white.
Not suitable for solid ingredients (e.g. pieces of but
ter from the refrigerator).
S Insert the beater.
S Add ingredients.
S Attach the lid (6a) and pusher (6b) and rotate as
far as possible in a clockwise direction.
S Select the desired setting with the rotary switch (1)
(see Recipes and Tips" booklet).
S To add more ingredients, set the rotary switch to
setting 1.
S Remove the pusher and add ingredients through
the feed tube (6c).
Cutting discs:
Reversible slicing disc (7e) - thick/thin
for slicing fruit and vegetables.
Reversible shredding disc (7f) - coarse/fine
for shredding fruit, vegetables and cheese.
Some models:
Grating disc (7g) - medium fine
for grating, e.g. nuts, hard cheese (e.g. Parmesan),
chocolate.
Disc carrier (7d)
S Place disc carrier on operational axis by turning
slightly.
S Attach the shredding disc so that both the lugs
grip the disc carrier in the disc opening.
