7.1

Start-up

The start-up procedure described below should be followed in order to ensure proper functioning
of the converter unit:
1. Connect the equipment as shown in the appendix
2. Reference input and adjustment of the maximum operating speed (refer to 7.1.1)
3. Adjustment of current controller (refer to 7.1.2)
4. Adjustment of speed controller (refer to 7.1.3)
5. Adjustment of supplementary functions (refer to 7.1.4 ... 7.1.6)
WARNING
The jumper-setting may be changed only when the power supply is
disconnected or when the controller is inhibited (terminal X24.20 not active).
components on solder pins may be removed or inserted only when the power
supply is disconnected (terminals U1-V1 deenergized).
7.1.1 Reference input and adjustment of the maximum operating speed
The speed reference signal is input at terminal X24.4 to BS (terminal X24.6). The position of
jumper plug C4-C5-C6 determines whether the reference signal is entered via the ramp
generator or applied direct to the speed controller:

The SIMOREG K drive controller is equipped with an electrically isolated output voltage
measuring system, which means that drive operation without a tachogenerator is possible. In the
case of speed control using a tachogenerator, the tach is connected to the appropriate actual-
value input terminal X24.1 or .3 or .5. Two potentiometers are provided for precision adjustment
of the maximum speed: ng (coarse) and nf (fine).
7.1.1.1 Preparations
a)
Switch on: When the supply voltage is connected (terminals U1,V1), LED "Bt" lights up.
b)
Check motor field.
c)
Current limitation: Turn potentiometer "B+" fully Counter-clockwise (ccw). This setting
corresponds to a zero current limit.
d)
Apply 0 V speed reference to terminal X24.4.
e)
Set jumper B1-B2 (basic adjustment for operation without tachogenerator).
f)
Turn potentiometer "ng" to CCW end stop and "nf" to midscale position.
