4.9 Special design G03 for field supply
The 6RA22 -8DD21-
shunt-wound motors. The standard models are not suitable for supplying severely fluctuating
inductive loads.
There is a special model (6RA22
windings. This is a 40 A unit specially modified for this application. "-Z-G03" is appended to the
Order No. (MLFB) to distinguish this unit from the standard models.
This model is operated as a pure converter. The speed controller is connected as a 1:1 inverting
amplifier. The field current reference is set with potentiometer "V". No external references or actual
values are required. The limit monitor is configured for monitoring the actual current. The maximum
DC current is approx. 37 A.

in addition to the changes above, terminals X24.13 and X24.17 are interconnected.
It is recommended that an overvoltage protection device, consisting of a varistor and a capacitor,
be connected on the DC side to protect the converter against overvoltages in the event of a power
failure.
The varistor should be rated to suit the energy content of the load inductance (W = 0.5 x L x I
