12.0 Troubleshooting JSG‐233A‐M Sander
Before any repair or maintenance work, the machine must be switched off and disconnected from
the power supply (pull the plug). Failure to comply can result in serious injury.
Symptom
Motor won´t start when
switch is activated
Machine does not reach
full speed
Motor overheat.
Loud, repetitive noise or
vibration coming from
machine.
Sanding paper slips
Sanding belt does not run
in the middle of the rollers
Sanding belt tears
Abrasive loads up
prematurely.
Sanding marks on the
wood.
Sander burns wood.

Possible Cause
No incoming current.
Low voltage.
ON/OFF switch defective.
Capacitor defective.
Motor defective.
Overload.
V‐belt loose.
Air circulation through motor restricted.
Motor overloaded.
Fasteners loose.
Motor fan is hitting cover.
Machine not level.
Sanding belt is stretched.
Too much applied pressure.
Sanding belt defective.
Belt tracking adjusted off center
Sanding belt installed wrong way.
Too much applied pressure.
Inadequate dust collection.
Inadequate abrasive.
Workpiece was held still.
Abrasive is loaded.
Excessive stock removal for fine grit.
Abrasive is worn.
Correction *
Check connections and fuse.
Check power line for proper voltage.
Have the machine repaired at an authorized
repair shop.
Apply less pressure, use coarser grit.
Tension the V‐belt (see chapter 10.3).
Clean motor fan with compressed air to restore
normal air circulation.
Apply less pressure, use coarser grit.
Inspect fasteners and tighten where needed.
Tighten fan or shim fan cover.
Place sander on flat surface, shim if needed.
Install new sanding belt.
Apply less pressure, move workpiece while
sanding.
Replace the sanding belt.
Align the sanding belt using the adjusting knob
(pos. 26) until it runs exactly in the track.
Observe the belt running direction.
Move workpiece while sanding.
Increase airflow at dust port.
Use an open‐coat abrasive.
Keep the workpiece moving.
Clean abrasive or replace abrasive.
Use coarser grit
Replace abrasive.
