4.1 Haftung

1 Application
The Silesian Bandage is to be used solely for the prosthetic fitting of lower
limb amputations.
2 Indications for use
The Silesian Bandage is used as a pelvic strap to provide primary or sec-
ondary suspension for transfemoral prostheses. It is attached to the socket
laterally and anteriorly. To prevent the Silesian Bandage from slipping, the
auxiliary strap has been modified to fit securely over the patient's pelvis. The
auxiliary strap passes through a ring at the anterior midline and attaches to
the pelvic strap posteriorly. The advantage of this arrangement is that the
tension on the Silesian straps adjusts automatically when the patient walks
or sits down since the auxiliary strap slides as the patient moves. The pelvic
strap no longer slips because it follows the soft contours of the body.
3 Assembly
For proper function it is important to assemble the bandage in the right
order:
• Determine the length of the pelvic strap.
