Set input level.
• Using the input level controls "GAIN" (2), adapt the mixer input to the output signal
of the connected reproduction device concerned.
• Start the connected reproduction device, e.g. CD player
• Set the control "GAIN" (2) to the left-hand stop position "0".
• Increase the input sensitivity of the mixer slowly by turning the control "GAIN" in
the clockwise direction until the desired level has been reached.
• The mixer input may not be overmodulated (signal distorted).
• The channels should all have about the same volume so that in the case of cross-
fading between channels, no great differences in the volume arise forcing you to
regulate the output signal.
Set output level
• Using the output level control "MASTER" (3), adapt the mixer output to the input of
the connected amplifier.
• Set the control "MASTER" (3) to the left stop position "0".
• Start the connected reproduction device, e.g. CD player. Slide the appropriate
channel fader right to the top.
• Increase the output level of the mixer slowly by turning the control "MASTER" (3) in
the clockwise direction until the desired level has been reached. Observe here the
recording level display (11), the red display light-emitting diodes should not light
up or only briefly as otherwise the connected amplifier can be overmodulated and
the signal distorted.
• Turn the volume control of the connected amplifier to the suitable volume.
Make sure that the connected loudspeakers and the amplifier are
not overloaded. The reproduction may not be distorted under any
circumstances.
If distorted music signals can be heard, although the volume on
the amplifier has not been set too high and the mixer has been set
correctly, switch off the mixer immediately and check the connec-
tion. If there is no error on the connection, please contact a spe-
cialist.
Pre-listening
Before you plug in or put on the headphones, always turn the vol-
ume of the headphone to minimum (control CUE LEVEL (5) to
position "0"). Only increase the volume to a degree which is pleas-
ant for you after you have put on the headphones.
• Insert the headphones into the headphone jack HEADPHONES (9)

Do not place open sources of fire such as burning candles alongside
the appliance.
Only use the device in a moderate climate, never in a tropical climate.
The device may only be operated by persons who are familiar with the
appropriate safety instructions and with this manual.
Never place the device on a soft surface such as, for example, a car-
pet or a bed etc. Apart from this, the air circulation may not be
obstructed by objects such as magazines, table cloths, curtains or
similar. This hinders the extraction of heat from the device and can
lead to overheating. To ensure adequate ventilation, there must be a
free space around the mixer/plug-in power unit of 5 cm.
Observe also the safety and operating instructions of any other
devices that are connected to your music system.
If the device is switched by the on/off switch to "off", it is not discon-
nected from the mains. The plug-in power unit still consumes a low
quantity of power. Only when the plug-in power unit is pulled out, is
the device completely without power.
Only a specialist may replace a damaged connection cable on the
plug-in power unit. Risk of an electric shock!
Never leave packaging material lying around carelessly. In the hands
of children, plastic foils and/or bags and polystyrene parts etc. can
turn into dangerous toys.
Ensure that all the electrical connections and connection cables
between the device and any extension cables are made in accordance
with the regulations and comply with the operating instructions.
In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the
Employer's Liability Insurance Association for electrical Systems and
Operating Materials are to be observed.
If you are not sure about the correct connection or if questions arise
which are not covered by the operating instructions, please do not
hesitate to contact our Technical Support or another specialist. Please
consult a specialist in case of doubts about the correct operation or
the product safety.
