12. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

• Before carrying out any cleaning or
maintenance, unplug the coffee maker
and allow it to cool down.
• Never submerge the coffee maker in
water or use aggressive or abrasive
cleaning products.

• Clean the outside of the coffee maker
with a damp cloth.
• Rinse the water tank, the support grid
and the drip tray under the tap.
• Empty the drip tray regularly, and always
empty it if the red float "m" "full
indicator" is above the level of the
support grid (22).
• Clean the upper filter "s" using a damp
cloth (be careful, it may be hot). If it is very
dirty, use a coin to unscrew it from the
brew head and clean it thoroughly (23).
• After frothing milk, clean the steam
nozzle and frother.
Method:
• Switch off the coffee maker, unplug it and
wait for it to cool down.
• Remove the frother "j" from the steam
pipe "i" (first turning it anti-clockwise).
Then rinse it under the tap or use a
damp cloth to clean the dirt out of the
holes.
• If the steam pipe nozzle "i" has become
clogged, it can be unscrewed using the
hex key in the measuring spoon "p"
(24). Clean the hole in the nozzle with a
needle if necessary.
• If you plan not to use the coffee maker
for a long time, do not fit the filter holder
onto the brew head, or only fit it up to its
central position, so as not to shorten the
life of the seal.
13. DESCALING
You should clean the scale from the coffee
maker from time to time. The descaling
frequency will depend on the hardness of
the water in your area (consult your local

water board). Use the standard descaling
products available on the market (follow the
instructions for use) or dissolve two
teaspoonfuls of tartaric acid or citric acid in
half a litre of tepid water.
Do not use vinegar as this will shorten the
life of the seal considerably.
How to remove scale from the coffee maker
• Remove the filter holder.
• Unscrew the upper filter "s" " of the brew
head, using a coin (23). Clean the coffee
residues off with a damp cloth.
• Fill the tank with anti-scale solution. Then
place a container under the brew head.
• Switch on the coffee maker and turn the
switch "d" to coffee making position
Turn the dial "e" to coffee
making position
then be pumped around the circuit.
Note:
You do not need to wait for the red heating
light "f" to go off.
Allow 1/3 to 1/2 of the solution to circulate.
Switch of the coffee maker with the 0/I
switch "c" (leave the dial "e" in the same
position).
Leave the solution to work for 10-15
minutes, then switch on the coffee maker
and allow the rest of the solution to
circulate.
Repeat the process as often as necessary.
How to remove scale from the steam
pipe
• Follow the instructions given in the
section "How to remove scale from the
coffee maker", but set the dial „e" to
steam position.
• Place a container under the steam pipe.
Note:
After removing scale, allow an amount of
water between 1 and 2 times the volume of
the tank to circulate before using the coffee
maker again.
Screw the filter back in place.
