Make sure you can move and stand safely. Check the
area around you for possible obstacles (roots, rocks,
branches, ditches, etc.) in case you have to move
suddenly. Take great care when working on sloping
ground.
3
The engine must be switched off before moving.
4
Never put the machine down with the engine running
unless you have it in clear sight.

Basic working techniques

Always ensure you have a safe and stable working
position.
Always use both hands to hold the machine. Hold the
machine at the side of your body.
Make sure hands and feet do not come near the moss
dethatcher when the engine is running.
When the engine is switched off, keep your hands and
feet away from the moss dethatcher until it has
stopped completely.
Always slow the engine to idle speed after each
working operation. Long periods at full throttle without
any load on the engine (i.e. without the resistance that
the cutting attachment exerts on the engine when you
are using the machine) can lead to serious engine
damage.
If heavy vibration occurs, stop the machine.
Disconnect the HT lead from the spark plug. Check
that the machine is not damaged. Repair any damage.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! Watch out for thrown objects.
!
Always wear eye protection. Never lean
over the moss dethatcher. Stones,
rubbish, etc. can be thrown up into the
eyes causing blindness or serious injury.
Keep unauthorised persons at a
distance. Children, animals, onlookers
and helpers should be kept outside the
safety zone of 15 metres. Stop the
machine immediately if anyone
approaches. The gear can get hot during
use and may remain so for a while
afterwards. You could get burnt if you
touch it.
Run the moss dethatcher at full gas (or nearly full gas)
with the wheels resting on the surface.
NOTE!
It is both tiring and unnecessary to lift or hold the moss
dethatcher above the surface when working.
Keep a small working angle. Too large a working angle
can mean you loose control.
WARNING! Keep an acute working angle
!
to the surface. With a large working
angle, the moss dethatcher tends to
move towards you and you risk losing
control of the machine.
The moss dethatcher can rotate when the
machine is started. Always keep a firm
grip of the machine when starting.
Beware of objects that can fasten in or
be thrown out of the rotating moss
dethatcher.
Even though the moss dethatcher does
not have the same power as a lawn
mower, for example, you should avoid
working with materials that can cause
personal injury or damage to property if
thrown out.
