Obey the general routing requirements that follow:
• Make the bubbler line as short as possible.
• Use one continuous length of bubbler line to prevent possible air leaks from spliced connections.
• Make sure that the bubbler line does not have sharp bends and is not pinched.
• Make sure that the bubbler line has a constant slope down from the bubbler to the measurement
point to make sure that any condensation drains out the end of the bubbler line. The collected
moisture can decrease the flow of air and cause incorrect readings.
• Make sure that the bubbler line has a constant slope down to prevent possible siphoning during
maintenance.
1. Connect the bubbler line to the bubbler line connector on the instrument. Refer to
on page 5.
Note: The bubbler line connector holds the line tightly. A clamp is not necessary.
2. Install the other end of the bubbler line in the flow channel.
• In a primary device, install the bubbler line on the built-in bubbler line connector at the correct
head measurement point for the primary device. If a connector is not available, install the
bubbler line on the side of the flow stream with the bubbler line outlet below the lowest
expected level. Refer to
stilling well if silt and sediment do not typically collect in the stilling well.
Note: A stainless steel tube extension is available to help with installation.
• To measure the liquid level above the zero level of the primary device, install the bubbler line
outlet 2.54 to 5.08 cm (1 to 2 in.) below the zero level of the primary device. Refer to
on page 12.
• In circular pipes, install a mounting ring or band with a bubbler line connector to hold the
bubbler line. As an alternative, install the bubbler line along the wall in a slot or groove. Fill the
slot or groove to make a smooth surface to keep the bubbler line out of the flow stream so that
unwanted material does not collect on the bubbler line.
• For bubbler line installations in the flow stream, make sure that the bubbler line outlet is
perpendicular (at a 90-degree angle) to the flow stream. If the outlet points upstream, the flow
increases the pressure in the bubbler line. If the outlet points downstream, the flow decreases
the pressure in the bubbler line. Refer to
