After charging, trickle charging starts and keeps the battery at full capacity.
The battery will discharge during a long period in storage. For this reason, always re-charge
the battery if it has been stored for more than 15 days. To achieve maximum power when the
battery is new, or has been stored for more than three months, charge and discharge the bat-
tery at least twice.
1. Check that the mains supply voltage to the charger is correct.
2. Connect the battery charger to the wall socket.
3. Connect the battery charger to the Adflo battery.
NOTE! :
- If the Adflo unit starts, switch it off while charging.
- During charging, the charge indicator light will operate as follows:
----------- = Charging (steady charge indicator light)
--- --- --- = Trickle charging (slow blinking indicator light)
- - - - - -
= Temperature too high/low (fast blinking indicator light)
- Recommended surrounding temperature at charging is between 0 to 40°C.
- If the charger indicator light will not light up when connecting the charger to the battery,
please check the batterie's charge connector and the charger's cords and connectors.
4. After charging is completed, disconnect the battery charger from the mains supply.
5. Disconnect the battery charger from the Adflo battery.
NOTE! The particle filter must be changed if the battery operating time becomes too short.
5.2 Checking of low airflow alarm and checking of airflow, figure 8
The airflow and alarm system must always be checked before using.
1. Ensure that the particle filter and battery have been fitted correctly and that the battery is
adequately charged.
2. Fit the breathing tube to the Adflo respirator outlet and the airflow meter in the other end of
the breathing tube.
3. Switch on the Adflo unit at the lower airflow setting (one press of ON button).
4. Cover the air outlet of the airflow meter with your hand until an acoustic signal is heard and
the red indicator light comes on.
5. Remove your hand. The alarm should now stop and the light go out.
6. Hold the breathing tube so the flow meter tube is vertical and at eye level.
7. Wait until the position of the ball becomes stable and then check that the bottom of the ball
is above, or on the same level as the marking on the flow tube.
In normal cases, one may have to wait 1 minute before the ball stabilizes, although in cer-
tain cases up to 6 minutes. If the ball is too low, check as per Fault Finding (chapter 8).
Press the ON button again. Check that the ball is well above the marking.
8. Switch off the Adflo unit and remove the flow meter from the breathing tube.
WARNING!
Leave the contaminated area immediately if:
a) Any part of the system becomes damaged
b) Airflow into the head top decreases or stops
c) Breathing becomes difficult
d) Dizziness or other distress occurs.
e) You taste or smell contaminants or an irritation occurs.
