Dear patient,
Your doctor has prescribed the
functional knee brace Collamed/
Collamed long „Texas" for you.
Please read through these
instructions carefully to help ensure
that you fit your brace correctly.
Indications
• Conservative treatment of injuries of
the collateral ligaments
• Mild instabilities of the cruciate
ligament
• Meniscus injuries
• Chronic instabilities
• Traumatic or degenerative changes at
the knee joint

Contraindications

None known to date
Setting the flexion / extension limits
Only to be carried out by an
orthopedic technician.
Extension limit wedge, silver (limits
extension): 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Flexion limit wedge, black (limits flexion):
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°, 120°
Can be immobilised at:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
For immobilising the orthosis first insert
the flexion wedge and then the
corresponding extension wedge.
The medial (inside) and the lateral
(outside) wedge settings must
always be the same.

1. Remove the lateral joint splints from
®
the pockets.
2. 10° extension and 90° flexion wedges
®
are pre-installed in your knee brace as
standard.
3. To replace the wedges first loosen the
screws in the joint cover, then take the
cover off, the wedges can now be
removed by being gently pulled out in
a forwards direction.
4. Replacement extension wedges
(silver) can be found in the wedge set
marked 'R-E' (right) or ‚L-E' (left)
respectively. Slide the new wedge into
the joint from the front, and secure it
by tightening the screws. Insert the
wedge so that the letter shown on the
joint plate points upwards (R or L
respectively). Now insert the screw in
the thread and screw it tight.
5. To replace the black flexion wedge
loosen the screw and pull the wedge
out from the back of the orthosis.
Select the suitable wedge from the
wedge set marked 'R-F' (right) or L-F
(left) respectively. Insert the wedge so
that the letter shown on the joint
plate points upwards (R or L
respectively). Now insert the screw in
the thread and screw it tight.
6. Bend and flex the brace 'joint' a
couple of times and check that the
wedges are positioned correctly.
Finally, secure the joint cover and
replace the lateral joint splints in the
corresponding pockets.
