2.3 System plan ventilation system

The requirements on the ventilation system to be installed are as
individual as the apartments and residential buildings them-
selves.
A system design is required to select the suitable ventilation unit
and the correct settings.
A balance of air volumes must be generated that factors in both
the size and the utilisation of the individual rooms to be venti-
lated. The system design calculates the required air volume
flows, the size and number of air inlets and outlets, dimensions
the air duct system and ultimately determines the required venti-
lation unit.
The air volume flows are selected so that the air flows from
rooms with low air contamination (supply air rooms) to rooms
with higher air contamination (exhaust air rooms).
NOTE
The following are required for the system design:
- Information on the building and the ventilated living space
- Ground plans with details outlining the use of space
- Sectional view with details of the room height
These planning documents are used to divide up the building into
supply air areas, exhaust air areas and air overflow areas.
Supply air rooms are all living rooms, bedrooms and recreation
rooms
Exhaust air rooms are bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, utility rooms
Overflow areas are between the supply air and exhaust air areas,
e.g. hallways
NOTE
An incorrectly dimensioned ventilation system can lead to defective
ventilation and purging or cause loud noises and excess energy
consumption. Country-specific and regional rules and regulations must
be taken into consideration and observed.
ATTENTION!
Special requirements apply for simultaneous use of ventilation systems
and fireplaces. Country-specific and regional rules and regulations must
be observed. Early consultation with the relevant chimney sweep is
strongly recommended!
ATTENTION!
Existing fire protection regulations must be taken into consideration and
observed for the installation of ventilation systems!
With exhaust air systems, the fresh air backflow takes place via
outside air openings installed in the supply air rooms. The posi-
tioning must be taken into account in the system plan.

2.4 Safety and control devices

The domestic hot water heat pump is equipped with the following
safety devices:
High pressure switch (HP)
The high pressure switch protects the heat pump against unac-
ceptably high operating pressure in the refrigerant circuit and the
pressure switch switches the heat pump off in the event of a fault.
The heat pump restarts with a time delay when the pressure in
the refrigerant circuit has dropped again.
Safety temperature limiter for electric heater (STL)
The STL prevents impermissibly high temperatures from devel-
oping in the domestic hot water cylinder.
The electric heater switches off if the set switching value (99 °C)
is exceeded.
The electric heater cannot be switched on again until the domes-
tic hot water temperature has decreased to  90 °C and the reset
button (1) on the STL (under flange cover) is pressed (this must
only be done by qualified personnel).
The thermostat with factory setting (65 °C) can be increased by
turning the adjusting screw (2) clockwise.

The domestic hot water heat pump is also equipped with the fol-
lowing regulation and control devices:
Heat pump temperature controller
Temperature control in the domestic hot water cylinder and the
regulation for compressor operation is carried out by the control
electronics. Electronic sensors measure the water temperature,
which is regulated based on the setpoint. The desired tempera-
ture level (setpoint) is set via the keypad on the control panel.
Air intake temperature
The sensor connected to the controller measures the tempera-
ture in the domestic hot water heat pump directly in front of the
evaporator (air intake temperature). If the set switching value is
not reached (-7 ±1 °C, switch-back value 2 K,
delay 30 min), the domestic hot water preparation is switched au-
tomatically from heat pump operation to heating element opera-
tion.
