Commissioning

WARNING
Corrosive chemicals!
® Risk of caustic burns!
Check the tightness of the
G
media connections prior to
commissioning!
Use only the appropriate
G
protective gear when
performing the tightness
check.
CAUTION
Protect against leakage!
Provide precautionary measures
G
against exceeding the maximum
permitted pressures caused by
pressure surges (water hammer).
CAUTION
When used as an end-of-line valve, a
G
mating fl ange must be fi tted.
Observe pertinent standards
before commissioning.
1. Check the tightness and the function of
the butterfl y valve (close and reopen the
butterfl y valve).
2. If the plant is new and after repairs rinse
the piping system with a fully opened
butterfl y valve (to remove any harmful
foreign matter).
The plant operator is
responsible for selecting
the cleaning material and
performing the procedure.
3. Commissioning of operators in
accordance with the enclosed
instructions.

Inspection and servicing

14.1

Standard version

The equipment is subject to pressure!
® Risk of severe injury or death!
Only work on depressurized plant.
G
Hot plant components!
® Risk of burns!
Only work on plant that has
G
cooled down.
1. Use appropriate protective gear as
specifi ed in plant operator's guidelines.
2. Shut off plant or plant component.
3. Secure against recommissioning.
4. Depressurize the plant or plant
component.
5. Servicing and maintenance work must
only be performed by trained personnel.
6. Butterfl y valves which are always in the
same position should be operated 4
times a year.
The operator must carry out regular
visual examination of the butterfl y valves
dependent on the operating conditions
and the potential danger in order to
prevent leakage and damage. The butterfl y
valve also has to be disassembled at
corresponding intervals and checked for
wear (see chapter 14.3 "Removing the
butterfl y valve from the piping").
