The ignition wire must also be replaced if corrosion occurs, in order to
prevent drift in the results.
The ignition wire from the C 5010 and C 5012 decomposition vessels are
not interchangeable because of the difference in the alloys.
Leakages of the decomposition vessel are the results (see the sections
entitled „Leadkage test").
Leakages at the decomposition vessel container can cause
heavy damage to the calorimeter and the decomposition
vessel. Ignoring can lead to health impairment and injury.
ATTENTION!
Detaching the ignition wire on the ignition electrode (item 20):
• Fix the ignition electrode (item 20) in place at the spanner surfaces using
the AF 5.5 double open-ended spanner supplied.
• This will prevent the ignition electrode from being twisted.
• Loosen the nut (item 30) using the AF5 .5 double open-ended spanner.
Detaching the ignition wire on the crucible holder (item 25):
• Firmly hold the crucible holder and deflector and unscrew the
hexagonal nut using the AF 5,5 double open-ended wrench.
Note: The crucible holder should not be twisted while doing so.
Insert / Tightening of the ignition wire:
The ignition wire is shaped in such a way that the electrodes of the
decomposition vessel fit into the side holes.
The following points have to be strictly observed:
• The ignition wire has already been shaped in such a way that
that it lies above the crucible holder (note curvature).
• Align the ignition wire horizontally between the electrodes.
• Do not press the electrodes together. The deflector of the
crucible holder may be come into contact with the ignition
electrode.
• The ignition electrode must not be twisted and thereby
loosened.
• Follow the sequence in reverse to tighten the nut.
• Ensure that there is a sound contact with the ignition wire.
Note: Beware the danger of burn-off in the case of incorrectly laid ignition wires!
