Maintenance and Cleaning

3.4.1 Cleaning

1. Dirty surfaces of the unit, the cover or dirty holders,
shaking flasks, containers or grinding balls can be
cleaned with usual household detergents or alcohol.
Avoid aggressive cleaning agents.
For example, chloric agents can cause corrosion.

After cleaning, carefully flush with (deminerilized) water.
Residues of cleaning agents may interfere with the
analysis of samples. Especially in trace element analysis
it is recommended to consider blank tests. These tests
should include any accessory and process material
together with a pure substance or agent or a well-
known test material.
2. Shaking flasks and grinding balls are subject to wear
and tear, depending on the characteristics of the sample
material. Check for the degree of abrasion and replace
the parts regularly. Note the ordering information on
spare parts and consumables in section 4.

3.4.2 Maintenance

No maintenance measurements are required for the
Mikro-Dismembrator U. If the unit does not start or if
malfunctions occur, you can do the following:

1. Check the mains supply and the proper connection of
the mains cable. Also check the fuses (see fuse module
on the rear of the module).
2. Replace defective fuses.
3. Check setting of the operation modes and values. Check
whether the cover is closed properly.
The Mikro-Dismembrator U cannot start when the
cover is open.
4. If all settings are correct and proper handling is ensured
and the malfunctioning continuous, please contact your
service representative of Sartorius AG.
